escortedal
last night in the taxi i got a fare to go to another town and back, took a bit cash upfront. on the return journey the guy said he will go to the bank machine to get the rest of the cash for me, then five mins later he says go to his house and ill get my gran to pay.this started alarm bells ringing so i asked what street he lived in. his reply was a street where a fellow driver and one of the controller live, i further asks what door number it was, he replied with the comtrollers door number which meant i knew he was lying. i locked the central locking on the pug 406 and said ill need to go to the local cop shop. this started him ranting about being on a curfew and not to take him.i radio ahead to get assistance at the police station, but i got there first, so i circle the car park in the police compound and notice a cop car coming near so i speed up a bit to meet them to stop the ned doing a runner.only to realise at the last minute ha had put the back window down and started to climb out.i braked but it was too late he fell out right in front of the cops.he was unhurt really but to my horror i am now getting reported to the fiscal for dangerous driving or driving without due care and attention.im really screwed up by this as i try to seek help and the wee ned jumps out but im getting done this.really think the justice system is to protect the junkies and neds and not law abiding working people.now got a six month wait to see if action is to be taken. veiws on this if anyone has been in a similair situation. CAB will be able to give you a idea of your general position, see wether they advise getting further legal help before you go paying out for a solicitor

YellowWheels
im on the cabs myself and i dont mean to worry you but i know a couple of people who were arrested for kidnap after locking someone in who wouldnt pay. Nothing came of it in the end but just be careful. Also because you took part payment it wont be a police matter its classed as a civil matter and you would have to take the passenger to the small claims court

shawdreamer
Smackrat tried to bail on a cabbie a year or so back ere and he locked his cabs doors, drove round to his brothers (I assume he was nearer than the depot) and they both dragged him out the cab (non-to-gently I assume), emptied his pockets of his smack stash and chucked it down a grid when they found no cash at all. A neighbour of the brother reported it to the police who turned up after the smackrat had left and stated that "without a victom complaint they could not proceed with the investigation"

bloke
Could claim he was held against his will and was trying to escape from being held captive. He might claim that you continued driving when you knowingly seen him climbing out the window endangering his life. We Had a similiar case here and the taxi driver got 6 month suspended sentance and 500 notes fine 6 points and the guy got 2500 compo from the taxi driver Just my 2 pence worth
escortedal
was in the police station car park and i didnt notice him out the window,he was in the back directly behind me so was totally unaware what he was up to.just seems that the neds that dont work and have drink/drug issues and are on curfews or asbo get away with allsorts as they know how to work the system and the law abiding folk that work hard for a living get punished for trying to get on in life.next time i think it be best to go soewhere quiet and boot theutter crap out of folk rather than seek lawful help, not legal but hey, less hassle. charlie74
as a cabbie myself i live by the rule of no witness no crime,, emphasis on the word live,,so far in the last 5 yrs ive been lucky,, only had a knife pulled on me twice and both times was just to dodge the fair,, so far not been "fully" robbed,, the job suxs but it suits my avaliable times just to add salt to the wound,, if you are charged and convicted,, you may lose your badge etc and it will definatly go against you when its badge renewal time,, the advice ive been given is to just pull over and toss em out, if they refuse and get argumentative then its a police matter, and you can call em as a 999 special,, for anyone interested in the taxi/private hire trade and also some of the stories that go with it, we have a trade mag you can view online http://www.phtm.co.uki for one am seriously considering not renewing my badge later this yr as its getting silly out there
