Ahmotorsport
all this talking of crashing it isnt really helping lol i had to look at some plumbing for someone that knows you and your dad, speaks very highly of you guys! but i cant for the life of me remember his name, but hes got an orange "allard" is it? with a dirty great v6 or v8 and all sorts of other trick bits, very nice guy!Aye, that be Jim Tiller. Haha he's got a big V8 and a 'little one' the big one is for drags at 800+ BHP and the little one for hillclimbs/springs/racing at 500 + BHP http://alan-hassell-motorsport.co.uk/fella.htm
tezmanian devil
Yeh that's the guy, said he took the car to bonneville salt flats an spun it at 184mph what a nutter, he must be in he's 70's/80's?? Top bloke though, hopfully go back there and get he's plumbing sorted tomorrow.
Ahmotorsport
Haha sounds about right! Aerodynamics are not an Allards strong point! 197mph is the quickest run, but the wheels were spinning at 222mph.
tezmanian devil
Bloody hell, I'm sure he said he only had a 3spd auto box? Going back there in a minute now so hopfully have a proper look this time So is your old man able to fit a 4 link kit and panhard rod or is he mainly into engine tuning? tezmanian devil
After looking the latest pics and then going back to page 1, i cannot understand why you swapped cars. The 1300 was much better yeh but it was soo boring just going out to it with the key, starting it and driving it, there was never really anything to do on it and i like to get my hands drity and have a play it's that time again for an update yesturday i managed to borrow a mates engine crane so i could remove the engine, gearbox and prop etc, so at 5pm i finally had the time to do it. iv never removed an engine on my own and couldnt beleive how easy it was!! heres a couple of pictures of the engine befour it was removed... http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m106/tezmanian_devil/mk2%20escort%20estate/323f76a7.jpghttp://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m106/tezmanian_devil/mk2%20escort%20estate/f9c3dbfd.jpg soo, first up was removing the prophttp://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m106/tezmanian_devil/mk2%20escort%20estate/367c57c5.jpgdone next was the gearbox, i had to sit this down on the floor until the engine was removed so i could pull it out so no pictures... then it was time for the exhaust manifold and s/s exhaust system to come off... (the s/s systems proberly the best part of the car lol) http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m106/tezmanian_devil/mk2%20escort%20estate/5684946b.jpghttp://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m106/tezmanian_devil/mk2%20escort%20estate/55ada08d.jpg then it was time for the engine extraction so i set the engine crane up and went for it... http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m106/tezmanian_devil/mk2%20escort%20estate/b2342093.jpg and its out http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m106/tezmanian_devil/mk2%20escort%20estate/3a80cca0.jpghttp://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m106/tezmanian_devil/mk2%20escort%20estate/30932b25.jpg so now i have a big hole where the engine used to be and i can now see exactly what needs to be done in the engine bay which suprisingly isnt a great deal http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m106/tezmanian_devil/mk2%20escort%20estate/5dc7ab60.jpg with the engine out i now had enough space to pull the gearbox out.. http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m106/tezmanian_devil/mk2%20escort%20estate/3650a32d.jpg and some pics of the engine removed and where needs attention..http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m106/tezmanian_devil/mk2%20escort%20estate/19286650.jpg think this was where the battery tray used to behttp://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m106/tezmanian_devil/mk2%20escort%20estate/555b2c4e.jpg not quite sure what this is all about?http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m106/tezmanian_devil/mk2%20escort%20estate/9140e333.jpghttp://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m106/tezmanian_devil/mk2%20escort%20estate/521978c1.jpg http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m106/tezmanian_devil/mk2%20escort%20estate/44597184.jpghttp://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m106/tezmanian_devil/mk2%20escort%20estate/9ece9a21.jpghttp://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m106/tezmanian_devil/mk2%20escort%20estate/6598c807.jpghttp://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m106/tezmanian_devil/mk2%20escort%20estate/b4877805.jpghttp://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m106/tezmanian_devil/mk2%20escort%20estate/f48bbc8a.jpg i was quite proud of myself after that so while i still had abit of go left in me i rolled the car back and stripped what was left on the rear of the car http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m106/tezmanian_devil/mk2%20escort%20estate/e82f3537.jpghttp://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m106/tezmanian_devil/mk2%20escort%20estate/4684a860.jpg jobs a gooden, but im literally holding myself up now with my garage, so once i have abit of spare time and money i'l get my garage sorted out and get whats left off the car and get it on its side to have a decent look at the underside thats all for now folks, thanks for looking.all the engine, box, prop and exhaust are for sale if anyone wants them?
