mikes-fat-arsed-estate
i get an advisory every single year for having sill covers fitted (standard on focus, gti skirts on escort), its just because they cant get a propper look at the metal work, its just to cover their own back in the event of something happening and the plod turning up at he mot test station Oh I see that would make sense like, it's some thing I've been doing for years & never had anything mentioned in the past & it's the same mot test centre I use. Yeah the skirts do hide the sills that's a good thing right? ; )

mikes-fat-arsed-estate
Escort tdi progress As some may know the escort tdi is not the quickest of cars but is was my 1st diesel I bought 5 years ago & was impressed in general how she ran I was pretty clueless when purchasing her & now know so was the guy who I bought it of I remember him showing me the intercooler & telling me it was the aircon haha Any way it's always felt abit flat in power but returned good mpg compared to my Redtop at the time It's only when I bought my passat tdi I started to question just how slow it was in comparisment it's always been regular serviced by my self like all my cars oil every 5k , fuel filter, air filter , oil filter , cam belts ect It's only been since getting it back out of storage after 2 years I started looking into the matter as some of the YouTube videos I've watched with the same endura de engine seem to be nippy fair enough no match to most moden vehicles these days even the new 1.2 are available with a turbo. Any way I've done 900 miles in the last 2 weeks it returned average mpg but the power seems to come in waves rather then a nice steady climb & struggle once at 2.5k with a vibration through the car. To day I removed the intercooler cleaned all the crap that had built up over the years & disconnected the egr vacuum line & blocked it with a large wooden t piece ( untill my blanking plate comes ) replaced the maf sensor & cleaned up the turbo & checked the shaft for play all was fine the gunk build up around it was unbelievable & the actuator was covered so cleaned the area up used penetrating oil on the actuator rod but should it be able to be moved by hand or vacuum only? Also I don't see it move once the engines is idling or when I shut it off is this normal or does it operate under boost? I had a spare pod filter lying around unused so thought what the hell so tapped a hole in the end to allow the vacuum pipe that sits in the original air box , it fit nice and snug After putting the intercooler back in I took it for a spin the difference was unbelievable! It actually does have power & feels like all 90 is there haha I highly doubt it's the filter but does give the sound my old subaru impreza used to make minus 200 bhp lol So it's left me thinking it was either a buggered maf sensor or the actuator but it feels 100% better to drive & pulls nicely past 3k with no flat spots or vibration. It feels like the day I drove my passat home after a remap So it must have always been underpowered from the day I bought it. Here's a few pictures taken while doing it http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn129/allanmichealsmith/62A2D31B-2BB8-46E4-B20A-A22F997DCBE8-5847-0000064B0145596B_zpsb0ce5a8c.jpghttp://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn129/allanmichealsmith/D8032DAF-7E8C-45C2-BB72-68688C76A4FD-5847-0000064B337B7695_zps9e9deec8.jpghttp://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn129/allanmichealsmith/AFA5E710-7121-49A9-A6EB-5FC6D0005014-10813-00000B20FDFBEF1C_zpsa03aff72.jpghttp://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn129/allanmichealsmith/DCB80100-5215-4313-AAD3-829E78F610D0-10813-00000B2109931C90_zpsff143987.jpghttp://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn129/allanmichealsmith/D77D35C3-7DCD-4331-989C-141FBBCCD1C9-10813-00000B211636022B_zpse9ad8b6a.jpghttp://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn129/allanmichealsmith/26DCD6A8-5484-43B1-B660-BFE4D2B08EA9-11395-00000C0D344AB148_zps176bcfac.jpghttp://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn129/allanmichealsmith/CE6F7214-21EA-43E7-AD9C-BBB07E66261E-11395-00000C0D4978A08C_zpsd46d8a53.jpg
mikes-fat-arsed-estate
not alot to report on the escorts as ive been spending far to much time on my other toyhttp://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn129/allanmichealsmith/A582BE21-8EEF-4FBF-AD78-8DEF1FEEDC06-1849-00000214FA3A4F75_zps5ae7bfb0.jpg but what i did do was dress the estate up for halloween & sprayed the wheels neon orange ( like pumpkins : ) )i havent got pictures of the "haunted hearse" but the wheels are still orange lol truth be told ive had a sticking caliper & the brake dust settled into the white paint so they needed spraying any way. the orange wheels are they are http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn129/allanmichealsmith/E0D0C22A-32D9-45C8-8EF2-AE02BA7A231B-809-000000D05D03D0EC_zpse44ed670.jpghttp://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn129/allanmichealsmith/E6CB80AB-FCDD-4216-BDDF-384C22AB02A9-809-000000D06D78DA15_zps027bb382.jpghttp://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn129/allanmichealsmith/ACCB1508-EA9C-40F5-997A-5EC6FEB98445-809-000000D076A65DEE_zps4c0a78d8.jpghttp://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn129/allanmichealsmith/BB90203B-73F3-4713-826E-6FB66C9C8BE0-809-000000D08173F6D5_zpsb1f470d1.jpghttp://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn129/allanmichealsmith/B330705B-6EB4-41FE-A08B-A00C55E550FC-809-000000D08F69F9A5_zpse0745140.jpghttp://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn129/allanmichealsmith/26DF23B7-D33B-4B4B-90DC-209669B26801-1849-00000214D09C0B36_zps389c4014.jpg looks like il wait alittle untill i spray the back white due to the cold weather settling in -1 here in the north east tonight bbrrrrrrr

mikes-fat-arsed-estate
hi i thought rather then start a new build thread i would just add the latest addition to my current build thread some of you may have seen it recently but here it is http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn129/allanmichealsmith/Mobile%20Uploads/20140303_170558_zpswhkxvsrt.jpghttp://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn129/allanmichealsmith/Mobile%20Uploads/20140303_170547_zps1xdddr4b.jpghttp://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn129/allanmichealsmith/Mobile%20Uploads/20140303_170526_zpseiokmznt.jpghttp://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn129/allanmichealsmith/Mobile%20Uploads/20140302_142927_zps7ge5iqfb.jpghttp://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn129/allanmichealsmith/Mobile%20Uploads/20140302_142913_zpsguei4udx.jpghttp://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn129/allanmichealsmith/Mobile%20Uploads/20140302_142904_zpshzernq1x.jpg it was the result of a drunk last min ebay bid but unlike alot on ebay if i bid i fully intend to buy despite the ear ache i received from the mrgood news is.... the cars solid underneath & cleans up well how ever at the moment its needs work due to the previous not having the common sense to knock the engine & pop the bonnet when it starts to smoke this is the result of a larger battery been fitted & the positive terminal touching the hood feeezling the earth strap & other wires which is being corrected.so my todays to do list is .....new discs padsoil + filter fuel filter temp sensornew hornwasher motorcv bootwishbonesnew front tyrestracking so on that note i better get on & finish what ive started

mikes-fat-arsed-estate
Not alot to report lately as ive been away , tried a new product to me , poor boys black hole &; natty wax on the estate http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn129/allanmichealsmith/IMG_20140609_125005_zps6iisgwjr.jpg As for the cabby ive literally seen the car 7 times since buying it.So I have not had time to do the plans I wanted as mentioned in previous comments removing the sticker & finding some wheels of my choice, any how out her through the mot todayShe failed unfortunately buy nothing bad emissions were high , two front tyres had wear on the outer edge (from a previous vehicle) number plate incorrect gap , front wheel bearing , After a quick spin with forte treatment new tyres the emissions dropped with in normal limits.I already had spare plates in the boot only because the originals looked aged. I know scottybo wont like to see the horrendous stickers again haha but a couple of pictures before she went in http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn129/allanmichealsmith/IMG_20140609_123606_zpsadvhijzm.jpg http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn129/allanmichealsmith/IMG_20140609_124350_zpsjxfjmb8m.jpg my plans were to sell her on but after spending more on her getting her to a my standard its worth more to me then any one else plus all the ones on ebay dont sell much more then a few hundred.
