JC
Has any one ever fitted a Sump guard to an escort? i'm actually seriously considering one!
Danzetec
There was a genuine sump guard for the mk6 escort iirc, saw nos for sale on ebay a while back
shawdreamer
tbh unless your escort is standard height or higher I cant see the point as the gaurd would have to be positioned quite low in regards to the sump to allow for engine torque movement on acceleration (otherwise it'll strike pretty much any time you foot hits the pedal or even changing gear) which all in all renders the point of a sump gaurd generally pointless in the first place. Infact when I think about it, adding one would likely cause the issue's sump gaurds are installed for (ergo speed hump strikes etc). all thats assuming your not monster trucking your escort in which case yer....... suppose it'll look ok. sidrick
How would a sump guard effect your oil temps on track days?
Danzetec
How would a sump guard effect your oil temps on track days? Depends if it restricts engine bay air-flow and if hes running an oil cooler? Why are you thinking of one John? In the unlikely event you caught the sump, you would get out and check it. Unless you're thinking of doing some rallying? massivewangers
Seems a little extreme on a road car? Unless you plan on going off road in it or, as Dan said, doing a spot of rallying?
JC
Why are you thinking of one John? was thinking about it, as caught my sump and exhaust on speed bumps, and slowing for them, and did alot of damage... I would have it removable for track use.... Just wondered if anyone had any experience of them? I know astra's have the fitted easily...
