chute55uk
im about to attempt to fit a non airbagged steering wheel to my mk 6 with airbag why am i putting a thead on? well all the places i have been to have said it cant be done as there isnt a boss adaptor to fit, i dont believe them so i bought a raid boss for £40 for a 91> escort as i cant see as ford would have changed the steering column coz of an airbag i was also told that the bosses are too deep and would need machining down but as there is a bolt rather than a nut holing the wheel on, even if the boss is too deep it would simply be a case of using a longer bolt? if anyone knows any different let me know otherwise i will let you know if i succeed tomorow and if i do i will buy a wheel at trax and fit it there! Mike C
there is no boss kit available for the car, the existing boss needs to be adapted for the new wheel

Mk6 Si Ross
3 options 1. Ians way - Puma boss, few tricks 2. My way - The Mk5 boss, lots of tricks n still doesn't work properly 3. Can't remember who - Change the whole steering column to a Mk5 to fit the boss (seriously) Ians seems to be best at the mo though
JonC
option 4 - leave the standard steering wheel on because 1. Its safer having an airbag2. The Ford steering wheel is nice enough and stylish enough3. The Ford steering wheel is better quality than any aftermarket wheel and wont fall apart

M4TT
yup very true, theres nothing wring in doing something like this, like ross and ian, but my self i rather have the standard or another ford wheel with airbag, if it has the feather, might as well use it
