Mike-evans
Not got a hoist yet Marc... Want to get this engine change right and wthl as little snags as possible, so what can I do to help it go easier... Soak exhaust bolts with oil the night before? What is the best way to undo all 3 mounts? Including rear gearbox mount? When fitting the new clutch, what is the best way to align it (never fitted a clutch before)? bongo
we know your wishbones will come off easy enough, also you exhaust should to,soak the exhaust manifold bolts.
Ahmotorsport
Exhaust nuts should be alright, but no harm in soaking them. They have a coating on them that helps them not to seize on with heat. Alignment tools with clutches are a thing of the past!

Yeah Im sure the wishbones will be easy to remove, could do them blind folded lol... Ps did you get my text? Exhaust nuts should be alright, but no harm in soaking them. Without a clutch alignment tool ( not sure if theres one with the clutch kit), whats the best way to align it?

sidrick
Never once saw a clutch come with an alignment tool and I must have ordered 50+ from loads of different manufacturers. The tools are cheap enough online.

Scort_CVH
Hi mate ive just done this so ill say how I did it. Had access to:tool kit - sockets, spanners, pry bars, screwdrivers etc etcHoistJack and stands Drop the engine and box in one piece - so much easier Disconnect your air box and piping and get it out your way. Youll need to unplug the 3 multiplugs for the engine loom aswell as starter loom and theres a few plugs that have there own loomsCoolant hoses.PAS hoses (leave the metal one bolted to the engine Remember - speedo cable! Oil pressure switch and gear linkages Id leave the inner cvs in box to save it making a mess of your driveCrack off the hub nuts with the wheels on the ground finally all the mounts are easy bar the rear gearbox mount - youll need to remove the L shape metal bracket that sits on the studs before ill come out and use a pry bar and in general Pee about with it Before it goes in cut about 10mm off the bottom stud! - life so much easier also split the mani and downpipe and leave mani on engine to save risking shearing studs where it matters Edited September 26, 2012 by Scort_CVH
