Oil leak

My money's on rear main crank seal.

Yep and mine, thats why I asked how hard is it to remove the flywheel?

Box out, clutch and flywheel off, old seal out and new fitted - is that what needs to be done?

not to hard bolts will be tight you may have to get someone to hold the flywheel using a bolt screwed into the bellhousing and with a strong screwdriver use the bolt as a pivot point to hold the flywheel using the ring gear the flywheel will have to be torqued up again after . :thumb:

Just had it up on the ramps....bad leak....

Annoying more than anything, as I only fittdd the 2.0l around 2 months ago..

Just been quoted £170 parts and labour to get it done, how does that sound?

I am thinking about doing it myself, but do have afew questions;

How hard is it to drop the gearbox whilst engine is still in the car?

Rouhly how long has it taken people to drop the box?

How hard is the crank seal to remove and new one to fit?

Yes I did fit the engine myself..

Rear crank seal (one behind flywheel)...

Probably will do it myself, just for the learning side of it :thumb:

only concern I have is removal of flywheel

if you can fit an engine you can change a rear main oil seal easy

1.engine or gear box out you decide

2.clutch off

3.flywheel off

4.seal housing off

5. replace seal to housing

6.fit housing back

8. flywheel back

9.gearbox/engine back

10.have a beer :thumb:
