Selling my 1.4 LX as I'm after a 1.6 16v Si. The GTi is far too expensive to insure at the moment though. It's a shame shaun1988 sold his recently because I used his reg to get a quote and it worked out cheaper than my 1.4 LX.

he only sold it to his cousin, quick, make him a better offer than £400, I'm sure he'll do you a favour.

for what its worth avoid the the Si badge and get a lower spec model, your insurance will like you better and you can allways slap on the Si body parts later (which is basically all the Si is..... a CL with Gti looks)

si doesnt come with gti skirts and spats on man, differences between the si and base models are a few electrical goodies, fogged bumper, spoiler and a white dash. i know this as i had a very early mk6 si (95!!!)

get a base model and do the bits yourself!

i actually have in my possession a full SI interior, and a spare set of spats and skirts so all you would need is some wheels and you would have yourself a sporty looking car right away!

I would Scott, but I want a 1.6 16v. If it would cost me less to do that, and convert the engine to a 1.6, I would. But I can't afford to be car-less for a long period of time and I simply can't be arsed.

no i mean just buy a base model 1.6. mine started life as a.finnesse model for example. i got rid of my si for.the.finnesse as it was way cheaper to insure and was in better condition

Did you declare all the mods? ?( as that soon bumps the premium up!

if t's only minor cosmetics or something that ford would offer you as an option when you purchased the motor from new, the insurance don't care as it could have been put in as an upgrade when new. they only really start worrying when your completely changing large body panels (bumpers etc) to non ford or really tinkering with the engine. I spoke to the insurance company when I put the ss exhaust on, as soon as I produced the fact that it was stainless steel therefore wouldn't rust, it came with a lifetime gaurantee and was actually cheaper to replace than a standard ford exhaust, it actually lowered my premiums :) can't argue with that. Don't be scared of telling them, it might work in your favour.

only parts that arent declared is the interior and the wheels, after all i work in a bank so what the hell do i know about cars lol

well, if you work in the banks car insurance section???????? haha. thats just my experience and what I got told by my insurance company, but I will say that the co-op are a lot better than most I've been with and I've been round the bloke with insurance companies in my time. Direct Line where the worst ever followed by Endsleigh. been with Co-op for last 3 years as no-one has beaten their renewals :). just my experience when your thinking of what car to buy next. hope you have luck finding a peachy 1.6. if I spot one, I'll let you know.
