scottybo
ive been looking at powerchips since maxwax posted his for sale and id be interested in buying it if it would work, im also in duscussions with a chap about one that has already fitted to a 1.6 with the 'jeep' ecu code what i want to know is, does it matter what ecu code you have or are the chips interchangeable, and whats the most common code for an x reg 1.6 finnesse? also i have read some information about having the chip programmed to match your keys? whats involved in fitting one and whats the rough cost as im really interested in maxwax's one
Stu
It has to be the right code. Superchips used to offer a re-flash service but no idea if they still do these days. Complete waste of time fitting one of these.

scottybo
ok i picked up a collins powerchip for a 'jeep' ecu. i know stu said it wouldnt do a lot but for 20 quid what can i say. so the question now is if my escort has a jeep ecu will it just plug n play. and it it has a different ecu code. what would i need to do to convert to jeep so i can use the chip? JC
If you use an older ECU then you will loose the temp gauge and can't remember what else. I say that from running a DESK

sidrick
This sounds like it's going to be a good one to follow. whys that dude? Just that you were told they were a waste of time, bought one anyway for £20 (condition unknown, I assume, unless you've seen it running?), for an ECU that your car possibly doesn't have. Did the JEEP ECU come with the chip? If not, I think you might be fighting a losing battle.
