Escort MK6 Zenon HID Conversion

Hi just wondering if anyone has converted their Escort MK6 standard headlights to Xenon HID and if so, what are their results like only i really want to convert mine because i really dont like the yellow side lights or main beam light. Ive read that they are meant to be illegal on non-standard cars with reflectors in the headlamp but others have said they have fitted them and have been fine. I know a few years ago i got a fialure on a MOT because i had a set of blue bulbs fitted. If anyone has them fitted are they pretty straight forward to convert? Any help/information is much appreciated. Cheers again.

failed to learn a valuable lesson in there somewhere?

Fitting HIDS to a non-factory HID equiped car is a MOT failure, ergo..... illegal.......... and feckin annoying to other drivers to boot :thumb:

brighter bulbs: cheaper, simple to fit and legal!

as long as ya don't go obviously silly bright.

the lower level diamond white show bulbs are passable for road use without blinding other drivers, catching the local rozzers attention or upsetting your MOT inspector.

Go to bright though and just like HID bulbs you'll overpower the refractors moulded into an escorts standard glass lenses and once again be pissin off ever driver you pass going the opposite direction.

No, haven't failed to learn a lesson anywhere mate. The blue bulbs were a couple of quid and i assumed because they sold them in a shop with other car related items that they were legal. The HID bulbs are clear white which hence the reason why i asked.

next time read the packaging a bit closer, you''ll have likely found written in some tiny almost unreadable typeset (often requiring a magnifying glass to identify) the words "only for show use"

however unlike that devious way of selling illegal bulbs your actually being told up front and clearly right hear and now..... adding a HID kit to your escort is 1. Illegal by current road use by-laws, 2. A MOT failure, 3. (And imho the most important) a danger to other road users.

get a set of projectors ...THEN fit some HIDs had some fitted to my escort without MOT problems for years

that's probably because the fish eye lens of projectors are better suited to direct and concentrate the high intensity light produced by HID's thus directing the light to were it should go, which is a far difference to when HID's are fitted into standard lights that just don't have the refraction levels moulded into their standard glass lenses to cope with the increase..... essentially its like your driving round with full beams on all the time (thus the "pissin off" and "danger to other road users" when someones pigshit stupid or ignorant enough to do it). :thumb:

Ill remember to take my monocle next time. All i asked was for an answer because i know opinions can be different, not a essay. Anyway with that in mind, could anyone recommend any decent white/blue tint LEGAL bulbs and maybe show some pictures. Also, any decent side lights. Thanks

as sidelight are not for your own visual assistance at night you can replace with some white LED bulbs.

and the "essay" was entirely for your own benefit and meant to help you avoid another MOT upset and other drivers temporary blindness.

I you want people to recommend you illegal and thick as pigshite mods that will see you getting pulled by rozzers and/or hated by the public in general youve 1.picked the wrong site to frequent and 2.Need to go sit in the corner with that Stevemo dick'ed

YOU stated clearly you wanted to fit a HID kit.

I stated clearly its was illegal on non oem vehicles, a mot failure and feckin stupid to boot

YOU chose to disregard

I elaborated on why it was a "feckin stupid" idea

YOU got shirty about getting opinions you don't like

I'M now telling you that if you don't want opinions you don't like......... don't feckin ask in the first place?

regardless of that the fact remains, HID = illegal, mot failure, feckin stupid.

now you can take that info/fact/opinion whichever way you want to that's your own prerogative however I'm the type of person that will call a horse a horse, a tree a tree and a stupid feckin idea a stupid feckin idea and I'm afraid on that fact there is no interpretation, as for the Stevemo corner, its not reserved for "naughty" boys, its reserved for people who take valuable advice, Pee it up the wall, do as they like regardless of what a tit their making of themselves then blame it on anyone but themselves, its also of note that I didn't say you were in that corner, merely that you should go their if you ignore obvious genuine advice about known legal issues and problems.

PS, if I was "ranting"..... you'd most certainly know it.
