danny42
Sorry for saying this but its a good job that sump is hidden away not my cup of tea but each to their own good luck with the mot. Fair play, each to his own is what makes life interesting I don't think the photo quite does it justice but i wasn't expecting it to become a new Evo craze lol
Turner
Looked really good with the skirts and spats. Pepper red GTI's are lovely. I have to say though, that is some really dodgy parking just for a photo.http://i1309.photobucket.com/albums/s640/ambulance42/IMGP2964_zpse356609c.jpg Thanks pal i was totally chuffed with it that day. It does look really bad but i did it down an industrial estate near me especially for some shots, and who's down industrial estates on sunday nights but kids with cars and cameras Fair enough. Dogger's too maybe?Once it's back on the road I think you should get some bump strips colour coded rather than remove them, same goes for the door handles too. It will be super slick then. danny42
UPDATE!!! -dramatic pause- SHE'S BACK!!! I am currently ridiculously excited, as the rebuild has about finished. Anyway, i'll let the pictures do the talking. http://i1309.photobucket.com/albums/s640/ambulance42/SN850703_zpsb6296764.jpg http://i1309.photobucket.com/albums/s640/ambulance42/SN850704_zpsb71b11f8.jpg http://i1309.photobucket.com/albums/s640/ambulance42/SN850705_zpsafa696cf.jpg http://i1309.photobucket.com/albums/s640/ambulance42/SN850708_zps48e61abd.jpg Guess where i'm from lol http://i1309.photobucket.com/albums/s640/ambulance42/SN850707_zps887b1277.jpg http://i1309.photobucket.com/albums/s640/ambulance42/SN850710_zpsfa7e88c4.jpg http://i1309.photobucket.com/albums/s640/ambulance42/IMGP4669_zpse0997fba.jpg http://i1309.photobucket.com/albums/s640/ambulance42/IMGP4682_zpsbccbf65c.jpg http://i1309.photobucket.com/albums/s640/ambulance42/IMGP4686_zpsf10d4a89.jpg http://i1309.photobucket.com/albums/s640/ambulance42/IMGP4695_zpsb19bf3cd.jpg As i said at the top the car has just about completed the rebuild stage. The only things it needs now are, to pass a VIC test, go back to the bodyshop for a quick finish and polish up and some more miles to go under the wheels to finish off running the engine in. It's kinda frustrating to have to drive around without going above 2,500rpm, i've never seen so many smug chavs that want to race as i'm finding now. For the moment i'm just enjoying getting out and about in her and chasing the little niggles (read idling issues lol) that always crop up. For a long time i didn't think that i'd be able to save her and believe me that first drive to the MOT station (6 months and a day after the accident), though nerve-racking, tense and very sweaty was one of the best i've ever had. I've been through a lot with this car (i suppose we all have that relationship with our cars in one way or another) and seeing her sat outside my window as i type this is enormously satisfying. It's been a long road, but i'm happy to be back on the road, if that makes sense. Thanks for looking, comments welcome.

danny42
good to see another decent pepper red 5 door makin the rounds. check mine out. not fussed for the black wheels though Thanks man Don't worry, i've already checked yours out lol, i wasn't gonna miss out on another pepper red 5 dr, i can always use the inspiration. I do like the black (when they're clean) but i am thinking of cracking open the rattle cans for a freshen up, and wondering if more of an anthracite would work Good luck with the 1.8 build btw. Are you giving it a full rebuild (shells, rings, core plugs etc)?Should be abit of a weapon by the time you've done. Nice to see it back on the road looked terminal after your little mishap Cheers mate, the feeling is immense. I was very lucky with how everything worked out. If it'd hit about an inch to the right, this would probably be a for sale/breaking thread! Splitter needed.......mg zs, a nice break from the norm. But in general......I like Thanks dude, i'm pleased with how it turned out I like that suggestion, i'm gonna lower it some more, it just needs it lol, but you've got me thinking splitters now Cheers pal. Nice to see it repaired Thanks mate, much appreciated, it was your thread that convinced me to push on and get her 2litre'd. I just want to be able to feel the power gain now lol

danny42
shes gettin a complete rebuild from the floor up. also having the head skimmed and ported. flywheel lightened and balanced. im hoping for good figures. 130hp out of the box so should be good. get a grille in there though will ya! Nice, that should be quite potent. I've given mine a rebuild too, got a 2l from the scrappy, then had it stripped down and cleaned, right down to the rings. I didn't like the thought of having a worn engine, i'd forever be wondering what power it was actually making and how far the big ends were from going tap-tap-BANG lol. While it was apart, had the flywheel lightened and the bottom end balanced. (Got some ARP's in there aswell to be big end safe ) Also fitted some CATCAM's fast roaders while I was putting it back together. That's why i'm finding it so tempting to give it a size 10 while i'm driving, but coz it's only got 380 miles on the clock, i don't think it'd end well lol! Once yours is done, i fancy a drag down pod, 1.8 vs 2.0 grudge match I like the grille-less-ness, one of the first things i did to it. I've not really seen any others like it. scottybo
ur damn fcuking right i fancy that! rev happy 1.8 vs torquey 2.0. should be fun. im trying to get the best performance for the least money lol. but i know a few good guys who can help me out. i will be using the standard 1.6 flywheel (lightened as well) clutch and box which are way smaller than the mtx parts. so it should rev up really well although to compensate for the smaller clutch ive had to buy an organic jobby from demon tweakes. not bad for 120 quid i guess
