sidrick
I've never seen a pump being removed without the use of a hammer/mallet to undo the locking ring.
sortedford
Short sharp hit pal, do it on one of the tabs, then move to another one and keep doing it

Naylor2006
Having had my 3 different fuel pumps during fuel gauge gate I can second Sid, mallet and screw driver on the notches bit by bit, Im sure the proper tool would have been better as it would apply pressure on each notch all at the same time however didnt have one and couldnt find one. Just ditch it all, be like you to fit a shiny tank in the boot

Ahmotorsport
Aye hammer and screwdriver/drift. Very common, even old fuel senders (mine for example) are the same.
