Hi, just joined and wanted to pick the brains of fellow fordians. I always wanted a classic ford but due to not being a lottery winner a half descent Mk 6 is the best i can afford, but looking on here there's a lot to be done with Mk 6. Anyway i have been to see one and they told me the alarm sounds when you unlock the drivers door!!! Is this an easy fix??? I'm pretty handy with a screwdriver and long nosed plyers. Any help would be much appreciated. Cheers me dears. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

is the car fitted with remote locking and central locking?

Common (and annoying) fault with the standard ford alarm is its incredibly easy to confuse it, especially if their a faulty door lock sensor.

the problem your describing is commonly caused by locking the cars door with on one side and unlocking the cars doors on the otherside (eg you lock the car up with the passenger side lock at night then when you come to open it first thing you unlock the car at the drivers side). sounds simple but for some reason the alarms ford used just cant understand whats going on .

further confusion happens if after market remote locking is installed and you use the key to unlock the car after locking it with the remote.

theres plenty of methods about to fix the issue but for any easy fix (and probably the only way to ever avoid the issue again) is to cut the connections to the standard alarm siren in the passenger side compartment wall in the boot, obviously this means you no longer have the standard alarm siren but then again if youve got even a smidge of sense your gonna stick a aftermarket alarm in anyway.

aslong as the car starts fine (regardless of the siren blurring) then you shouldnt have an issue loosing the siren.

Thanks for that mate, it's central locking and has an after market alarm that has been turned off/disconnected. At least I can unplug the ford alarm while I suss out what's going on! Great tipp :thumb: Think i will go and have another look at the car tomorrow.

Welcome to Evo. Always nice to see a newbie. Nothin' wrong with a mk6, although tbh if most people had a choice we'd all go a bit more old skool! Keep us posted on your lock situation and get some pics of the car up. :thumb: Edited by lee grout

I had this same fault on my escort.

Take your door panel off and get a light and look at the lock from inside the door panel.

Around the door lock is a plastic switch, which unclips easy this is your problem (it does have wires going to it which you need to unplug from the plastic switch).

Im sure drives side sensor is white in colour.

Passanger side is black. Its one or the other.

281264682331 ebay item number

Also to disconect the ford siren.

Its in the boot.

left side pull the carpet back from the wheel arch.

Get you hand behind the wing, you will feel the siren. The wires just pull off.

Good luck
