Ford Escort Comeback

modded focus' all look crap, i dont think ive come across a single modded example which i thought looked really nice

absolute subtlety was the key to modding the mk1/mk1.5 focus.

if ANYTHING slightly detracted from its original factory contoured curves it stuck out like a sore thumb and looked utter wank.

the trick with the original focus was to alter what it already had without adding anything, black masking the lights had a dramatic effect alone on lighter coloured motors (silver body with back smoked standard front HL's looked the nuts and instantly gave the motor a whole new aggressive look).

just a shame that every chavtastic sheep boyracer wananbe immediately ran out and bought the vast and various cack body kits that cropped up.

Your having a laugh, the mk2 Focus St is a million times better looking than the mk1 Focus ST170. The ST170 doesn't seem anything special over the standard 2.0 Focus, apart from the wheels and 6 speed gearbox.

Do you happen to have a mk1 Focus.

i even think the mk2 st looks boring, only the colour livens it up a bit

the mk1 focus had a radical new style, a new set of engines. independatn rear suspension on all models

it was a fantastic car whose sales figures back that up.......unfortunately no focus ever seems to mod as well as its older escort brother

What the hell is going on with that bonnet in the second pic, the green one. makes it look like some kind of reptile. Poor Focus, I feel sorry for it.

Yes i do have a mk1 focus.....well the mrs does

Im not saying the mk2 is abad car....just that theyre boring to look at. Boring to sit in and brought nothing new to the table.

Im just voicing my opinion here and imho even ghe st/rs models are boring from the factory. Made even more boring by the endless lines of them at the shows

I think all of the fords of that era were a bit pish. The mk6 fiesta being my least favourite ford of all time

tbf to ford, the current "boring" trend is pretty much the excepted norm for all manufacturers.

one go's square and eventually all go square.

sooner or later one of the names will step away from the "box" approach and offer up something interesting....

...after which all the others will jump on the bandwagon and it'll stop being interesting and the vicious dull circle starts again. :pancake:
