The bad news is that it's only for China

A production version of the Ford Escort is to make its world debut at the Beijing motor show, Autocar understands. The car is targeted at the Chinese market, and will be built locally.

 

Although no official information has been revealed, internet rumours suggest the front-drive saloon will use the powertrain from the Chinese-market Focus.

 

Ford revealed an Escort concept at the Shanghai motor show last year. Of the concept, Ford said it would offer “a fun driving experience, high level of technology, exceptional roominess, uncompromised functionality and sophisticated design".

 

The model is intended to grow Ford’s presence in China’s compact saloon segment, which generates more than five million sales annually. The marque currently sells second- and third-generation Focus models in China.

 

There are no plans for the model to be sold outside of China.

Yeah, the image is the concept, the production model hasn't been unveiled yet.

 

The news here is that it has been confirmed for production

But isn't this just the new Focus Saloon. It is still sold in other markets such as North and South America. But poor sales of the 4 door saloon Focus of the mk2, they never bothered to sell a mk3 version in Europe from 2011.

I can't say I got crazy that I saw it... sorry to say,but tasteless,colourless and without something intweresting... :glare:

I liked it, preferred it more than the mk1 Focus. Hated the mk1 Focus when it came out, it was an abomination to the beautiful Escort it replaced, it took years for it to grow on me.

The mk1 Focus saloon, also did not sell well either.

I have to disagree with you there I have a mk2 focus and I used to have the mk1

And I can say the mk2 is miles better than the mk1

The mk2 is a much better handling car and better to drive and I think it looks better too.

    Thing is your right about birkenhead the north end are well into there cavaliers chav Central up there they even had benefit street wanting to film there :thumb:

    i even think the mk2 st looks boring, only the colour livens it up a bit

     

    the mk1 focus had a radical new style, a new set of engines. independatn rear suspension on all models

     

    it was a fantastic car whose sales figures back that up.......unfortunately no focus ever seems to mod as well as its older escort brother

     

    modded focus' all look crap, i dont think ive come across a single modded example which i thought looked really nice
