Longy
I've hit 60k miles and thought I'd better get a cambelt change. Ford tell me it should have been changed at 40K or every 5 years. Oops Anyway it will cost £220!! I thought it was only about £90 or something.
Pete
I paid about £180 for a full service AND a cambelt change on my old mk5 Ghia, that was about 4 years ago
Longy
I rang another Ford Garage £200!! Apparently you have to get the full cambelt kit which costs about £90 and fitting it on the 1.8si/gti etc is a big job
Mk6 Si Ross
If you didn`t live so far away mate i`d of reccomended the bloke in Lee R`s sig. He wouldn`t charge anywhere near that much.
makyGTi
My kit cost me £75 (trade), From a ford specialist. Fitted myself with help from father.

gti_lee
When my car went into Ford, they told me to change the cambelt at 80,000 or after 5 years, also the cogs for the belt have to be changed as they are made of some sort of plastic and they can go brittle
Evv
gettin mine changed soon £50 from a friend that works at ford. all in incl fitting and cost of cambelt
JamieMckeen
i had mine done on my mk6 1.4 and had to have a new water pump at the same time and it cost me £149. this was for the new pump, cam belt and tensioner, and obviously fitting. the bloke is a mate of a mate though, so maybe i did get it done cheap, but £200 for just the cam belt seems way over the odds..... Al
......Why get it done at Ford? Do you think they will do a better job? For cars such as my Supra,it may well be better to go to the main dealer but an escort be it Zetec or CVH, most competant mechanics should be able to do it......cheaply. Jordan
Mine cost much less than that mate, about £80 i think Its not happened to anyone I know but apparently if the Cam Belt fucks then it can totally screw the engine big time That right Furry? (Or anyone who knows) Jordan
furry
yeah basicly if the belt snaps it throws the valves out of sink which causes them to hit the piston tops. on the zetec the tensioner pulley has to be changed due to them becoming brittle. there is also a spec tool that ford use to hold the pulleys in line with each other. i'd use someone else instead of ford, as al said any compitant mech can carry this job out.heres a piccy of the belt set up on a zetec from my ford engine book
