t_puttick
I think i may have posted this up several weeks ago on the main forum but for anyone who doesnt know or is interested in what a destroyed estate looks like, read on...on the 16th January, as i was travelling to work, i was heading down a large A road at the national speed limit, when just as i was about to pass a junction, where a minor road turns onto the main road, a BMW 5 series pulled out straight into my path about 30 feet in front of me, leaving me not much time to slam on the anchors whilst doing 60mph..consequently, i hit the 5 series just ahead of the drivers door, leaving me unconscious for about a day, with a broken leg, and lacerated hand which had gone through the heater vents, tearing my ligaments and tendons and internal bruising, whiplash, etc etc, after being cut out of the car and airlifted to hospital...9 weeks later i was out of the house, and today im now back at work, driving again, training again, regaining the small bit of life i have missed out on!! anyway, the pics are below and thanks again to mexico16v for the kind message! http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b379/t_puttick/13022008172.jpg http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b379/t_puttick/13022008174.jpg this shows how far the car has pushed back, denting the wheel on impact: http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b379/t_puttick/13022008175.jpg http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b379/t_puttick/13022008171.jpg http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b379/t_puttick/13022008178.jpg http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b379/t_puttick/13022008179.jpg i think in this one, you can see the ripples in the roof upon impact: http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b379/t_puttick/13022008181.jpg these are from the newspaper i was in: http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b379/t_puttick/C_67_image_2033381_thumbnail.jpg http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b379/t_puttick/C_67_image_2033392_thumbnail3.jpg and this is what she looked like before the crash: http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b379/t_puttick/Povox-PetrolStation.jpg http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b379/t_puttick/Povox251107003.jpg

Barry-334
no airbag deployed...?makes you wonder if ford fitted any sensors to them? at least the car did it's job of protecting the passenger compartment, and directed all the energy of the impact around the cabin (hense the kinked roof) Wonder how bad it was, before the fire brigade hacked the crap out of it to get you out..?I've seen cars after accidents, which could have been repaired, except the fire brigade got a bit trigger happy with their "jaws of death" and chopped it up. Obviously their priority is to get people out of the cars, but it makes you think...
