I thought it was the more the merrier, make it more interesting and something different to look at. If this is not the case then please let me know.

There was no problem with anyone turning up fella ,it did help make the day better to be frank ,no one knew anything about them so people were guessing thats all. you should have had a word with me just to keep me up to date fella ,I know we are on an escort site but to look at all other cars is good too

My brother and my mate were never a definite to be there and the other guys were literally spur of the moment. They seamed to enjoy it and hopefully will be able to make the next meet but i will let you know if they do. :thumb:

Why can't we get this sort of turnout at shows?

Because turning up to a meet on your doorstep is easy, but when a good few hrs drive is required to support the club at various shows very few are willing. Although that said this years club stands are looking alot more full, we only had 4 for Classic Ford last year lol thats increased....

Santa pod is only an hour from where this meet is held.

That makes it worse then tbh, no excuses not to turn up to atleast a few of them. I wish Pod was only an hour from me....

I know i aint got to any shows this year but i hopefully shall attend some later in the year and next year i shall get back to my routine of attending every show again lol

I could bring about 13 cars to the Essex or Hertz meet but they aren't Escorts so what's the point? :P

Only reason I brought my brother is because his RS is still an escort, and he isn't in a car club and likes meeting people that appreciate Fords.

Just so you all know the bloke on the motorbike is my brother and the other guy with the Capri is a good friend of mine.

The group that turned up later with the Volvo and other cars and parked next to us were mates that had just come past to say hello. They were well aware that it was not a cruise and just a meet.

even if others came over thinking it was a cruise, it gets the club name out there! free advertising! they may not have escorts but there mates may well do! so huge congrats to steve and all the members that went, making me wish i could have come down!

My thoughts exactly.

one oh my mates was there from topgear exhausts , driving the silver astra van :thumb:

Its all good sam ,I have interest from a RS owners club too so it may get even bigger but wanted to run it past the regulars first as I did not want them to muscle in and upset anyone

Aren't Evo meets meant to be a chance to get to meet and know other Evo members? Just seems to be a big enough meet with just Evo members without inviting other clubs along.

Just IMO mind :thumb:

Thats exactly what I was thinking dan ,as I had an email asking if it was ok as no doubt soemone has read this thread and told them, but I said I would ask all the regular members first before I could give a decision and due to the size of this meet now Im very tempted to say sorry chaps we are trying to keep it in house rather than as you say other clubs getting involved,I was so busy on sunday I never had the chance to speak to all the evo members that came

I new venue may have to figured out if more people come. Maybe we could all chip in a few quid and hire out a local field for the day :P

Mud wouldn't be a problem in the summer.

Im looking into venues at moment Del ,as the manager of the harvester was happy to have us there, but not when we bring 30 cars plus ,be nice to be able to have abbq for the summer period too

That's what I am getting at, it's hard enough trying to know whos who without a load of 'randoms' (no offense meant there). Maybe after a few meets, when the regulars that attend the meet are more acquainted then other clubs could turn up.

Don't forget that its not a show, it's a meet. There isn't alot to do in a field, some people might want to come for some activity, say bowling or something. Saying that, a bbq, maybe a game of football or something may be a good idea, but always best to be somewhere that has cover because it' never a good idea to trust the UK's weather :pancake: lol

I know what you mean Dan as I tried my hardest to get round to everyone and greet them ,think I did 90% of those who turned up and managed to fit Escort_kids seats and load him up with stuff,Never got chance to have an indepth chat with anyone really ,next meet Tez will be there so most will be drooling over his car and sammys work

I'm only suggesting a field because it's a wide open space, and if we have permission, legal.

No-one really did anything at the meet other than stand, talk and look at cars so I thought a field might be ok. We could also do a BBQ on a field or set up a picnic kind of thing...you know?

Only an idea anyway, throwing it out there.

We discussed a field as gti.tom came up with the idea of a bbq etc but there is not really many places locally that would be suitable and if there was, it would be a job getting permission as not many people want their fields littered or marked with bbq remains so woodside is prob still the best bet for the mean time.
