sidrick
No its folded into a pan Stu, although the picture doesn't really show, there is a good 12mm+ air gap What's the idea behind it? Won't that HUGELY restrict airflow? Just a guess, but those fans will be sucking air into the engine bay, and the metal plate will reduce heatsoak from the turbo into the radiator. I thought that's what it must be for, but won't it compromise the efficiency of the radiator? You'll have to let us know how you get on with it! Danzetec
They fit rad shrouds on standard escorts, its to mount the fan and to make it suck air through the whole surface area of the radiator. It should make the fans more effective and as Sidrick says will cut down heat-soak but I will prob need to make a bit of heatshield round under the turbo anyway because its all a bit close Cheers olly, will be around 200bhp when done
Stu
Dan, thing is the OE part is formed as a duct.. air doesn't like going around corners.. I think you may struggle with cooling based on my previous experience (inparticularly if you have a/c too).. testing will tell the whole story! Danzetec
I think the fans will pull the air through well like this but under normal driving conditions (with the fans off) the air may not travel through very well. Think I'll punch some large holes at the top to allow airflow through when I install that resistor
Stu
Bear in mind the air that goes through the intercooler needs somewhere to go

Danzetec
I have a small update for you guys! Been making up my new gauge plate for 2 gauges and my digi inlet air temp gauge, there will be a couple of toggle switches under this one Also my original 3 gauge plate is for sale here for anyone interested http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb87/Danzetec/2gaugeplate.jpg Here it is formed up out of aluminium sheet, designed to take the shape from the mondeo centre console up to the dash http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb87/Danzetec/2gaugeplate2.jpg And here it is covered with the vinyl pulled from an old door card Edited September 20, 2009 by Danzetec
