LiamGTR
When I bought my Mondeo's they came with 3 excellent tyres ( 2 were good year and 1 even a goodyear eagle F1 ) but I was wondering about the 4th... Eventhough it has plenty tread left for a good few 1,000 miles, when i come to replace it do i replace it with an expensive one like Goodyears Eagle F1 or do I go wit hthe £50 budget tyres? Do the more expensive one's last longer? Becuase i'd rather fork out £80-£100 when the time comes, rather than forking out £50 every 6 months or so ? (total guess there with months) I'm not buying the tyres now, i'm just wondering.
JC
Depends on the type of tyre, F1's will sometime wear out a lot quicker than a budget tyre, as F1's are quite soft, but a lot better grip and decent in the wet! I go for grip every time over durability! Edited May 1, 2009 by Lordjc
Hezz
tbh the sort of car you've got i'd go for the cheapies
LiamGTR
So forgetting F1's, do expensive one's tend to last longer than the budgets, and grip better throughout? But will the cheapiest not run out as soon as? Edited May 1, 2009 by LiamGTR
Carl160180
I had federals one my mondeo's 215/40 16's and they used to last about 9 month or so on the front and 18 month on the back's AND they were pretty good in the wet and IMO mint in the dry! £45 a corner i think i was paying
LiamGTR
£45 a corner for federals?? I got my valve replaced today on the front right and just to make conversation I asked for a rough price for new tyres, and his exact words were "£50 for budgets mate" So when the time comes i think i'll be hitting you up carl, i was in on this deal you have! lol
Carl160180
yeah federals are classed as a budget tyre but IMO they're pretty good for the price! Mind this was over 2 year ago I was getting them for that price, Will have to check up see if they're still going for the same price or not
