Heres my car: Standard jap import mx5 RS

Standard spec:

1.8 146bhp engine with 7500rpm redline

6 speed close ratio box

Torsen limited slip diff with short ratio final drive

No ABS

No central locking

Lightweight wheels

crazy 6 oclock dials

Mods:

mk2.5 cloth bucket seats

Plans:

Body work, colourcoded hardtop face lift the front end , same at the back (sort the bubbling on the arches / sills asap)possibly some small oem skirts / cc'd mudflaps

Brakes: braided lines, 5.1 or srf fluid track day pads that don't require warming up before use

Chassis: more bracing from the later model (need to check what it has already) considered a roll bar but tbh unless its fully functional I won't bother with the extra weight, don't want to lose leg room though.

Wheels: factory enkies in white with some sticky tyres (possibly some R888's or similar for track days)

Engine: will see what my engine man suggest but hope to get very involved in the build doing the work myself

Seems little odd tht its jdm but has uk plate holders.

love mx5's though. Get some tein coilovers with edfc system, throttle bodies. Absolutely brilliant track car. So easy to drift aswell. Proper fun car to drive. ( shame I dont fit in them well)

the importing dealer fitted them and supplied a hardtop with it, Its my daily so i won't be ruining the awesome bilstein setup as its a great compromise between handling well and ithandles bumps and crap surfaces brilliantly. coilovers are a nono on a daily for me. I was going to go FI but I'm seriously considering N/A as this thing is rapid with its gearing, fastest standard 5 I've driven by far.

as for the wheels

Not keen on the colour but they're good car's & you got top spec to so... Wern't they voted best roadster of all time?

they are indeed, they've won rubbish loads of things like that

for the drive nothing comes close for this money, when you consider you can pick one up for less than a grand and supercharge it to 200bhp for about a grand (s/h kit) they're unbeatable, the only reason not to have one is if your too tall/can't have a 2 seater *my opinion*

That was my problem when i went to purchase an rx7 a few years ago, drew 6500 out the bank but went to test drive & found my head pressed up against the roof, wasn't a good look as you can imagine!

Your plans sound good although i'd deffo go for black wheels on an orange car, but thats just me.
