Paddy gti
Is there a standard kit or something I can get to convert my gti to remote central locking as my doors lock barrel is getting tired to say the least A lot of after Market kits but don't work with the two stage lock win you turn anti clockwise then clockwise to lock but also enable the alarm Is there a standard unit / kit that will work but maintain the two stage locking

Squiz, did i sell you some of the bits for that kit ages ago? who'd you get to fit it for you? the British treasury?? half decent average remote central locking kit - Ebay, £20, with solenoids and 2x signal hopping remotes time required to fit - half a day if you know what your doing, a day if you don't. anyone who spends any more than that is possibly the offspring of a Grapefruit and a Orangutan. I had a cheapo remote locking kit on my second escort that cost about £20 from ebay. The ebay kit took about an hour to fit and was a piece of cake. But i wanted the correct kit for the car, and so that i would have a ford key with the buttons on, so i spent a fortune on sourcing all the bits to fit the GENUINE Ford remote locking kit that Squiz now has. Ford factory remote systemsfrom the escort era are utter complete toss, their ugly, have terrible limited range, next to no functionality, highly over-priced and highly over rated to say the very least. Ive REMOVED them before in preference for a aftermarket system, thats how little I consider their usefulness and practicality
Squiz
Why would you want a long range remote locking system ?Anyway In answer to the OPs question YES ford do make all the parts to achieve what you want to do...
shawdreamer
Why would you want a long range remote locking system ? 1. to make the useful "car locator" feature of nearly every aftermarket remote system viable. 2. to avoid having to stand RIGHT INFRONT of your IR equipped escort doing some bizarre hunchbacked dance in a vane attempt to get a clear line of sight to the IR sensor. 3.I didn't say "long range", they just commonly have better range than the ford IR jobs that as mentioned require you to stand RIGHT INFRONT of the car to get them to work 90% of the time (Generally speaking going round the car and unlocking the door with the feckin key has better range than the IR systems)
