Can you do better than this £100 stereo?

Stu, you don't arf get up early in the morning. Thanks for the offer, I'm going to spend the money on new shocks instead of stereo as i'm bouncing around like a yo yo at the moment.

By the way, the shocks and springs you recommended for the escort are fantastic, cheers. It's hard to describe the feeling, tighter I guess, the car feels a lot more level going round corners. Only trouble is now it is showing the tyres and the rest of the suspension to be inadequate. What would be the next step, replace all bushings and mounts?

If DAB is going to be the mainstream in 2015 is it really worth putting off for three years buying a bargain stereo now (in reality from recent faze out of digital services you may as well call it 2018 tbf lol).

Anyway!

Aldi

£45 nuff said lol, seriously.

the only drawback there though Pete.......... you have to walk into a Aldi....... what if someone you know sees you go in?, you'd have to move house, change your families identities or suffer persecution, personally Id take the hari kari option

I don't have a problem buying from Aldi, never used to go there but these days I now realise the food from there tastes far better than Asda/Morrisons etc, gone are the day's when it's cheaper as it often is not the case but the quality of product is far better.

Tools and electrical s are brilliant quality too, they don't win the best supermarket award year after year for nothing.

Germans know how to eat and wouldn't accept the below par quality of the likes of other big name supermarkets.

Anyway on the subject of car audio I will be selling mine soon to replace it (hardly used as I bought it then took the car off the road so sat in my room).

MP3 CD/USB/SD card outputs include sub, nice display with removable front with hard case.

Like new.

What dampers and springs did you go for?

What do you want to improve? Eg what is the problem?

The Bilstein B8 front and rear shocks matched with H&R springs, I think they used to belong to you!

The problem I now have is not one of over or under steer, moreover it feels like grip is lost on all four corners at the same time, sliding sideways. I have a mix of budgets tyres all round so I assume this would be the main culprit but am not really qualified to assume anything!

The other problem is I can feel some slack being taken up somewhere when engaging/disengaging the clutch (slight jerking) but I don't know enough about the suspension to determine whether it is gearbox/engine mounts, wishbones or just a worn clutch.

had an old 9880r, (was nice)...but have listened to a few of my mates alpine units, not sure on model number but they were £3-400 units.....they seemed a bit harsh to me but that could be a multitude of things.im no expert, also just a lot of reading ive done on talkaudio were people compare similar priced units. i know from your audio background you have a far better knowledge than i do though,so i wont argue :pancake:

If a novice messes with the balance, fade, base, treble, audio presets and pre-out settings enough any unit no matter the price range or qaulity it will sound like utter shite and unfortunetly the first thing your average tool will do is Ramp up the Bass full on a audio system that isnt built to cope with it and with no regard to balancing the sound qaulity out with other system settings.

Ive fitted countless headunits myself as small side jobs or favours for freinds and Allways take the time to set up the basic sound after fitting so the qaulity is best for their current amp, speaker, bass setup......... it never suprises me though when a couple turn up after a couple of weeks saying their "bass sounds crackly" and I find the Bass gauge aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaall the way to the right of the screen and the treble aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaall the way to the left.

Im suprised that maufactures havnt made the above a factory preset along with "POP, Classical, Dance etc"............ They could call it "complete moron" preset
