Funny I've just ordered him his own socket set hopefully it will be here by the weekend .He is at a great age to start tinkering with cars mate.I was exactly the same with my old chap,God bless him and I owe a hell of a lot to him for what I am today.I still adore my Fords and everything the older ones stand for.It will be a great first car for him if he starts saving that pocket money for his insurance.LOL.regards Andy

wolf8
It is a bit of a dog at the moment bit thats the joy of it, as I said me and my boy use to see it just sitting on the drive on our way to school and every morning my lad would talk about it. To be honest the chassis could fall out of it and it wouldn't bother me it would just mean more time me and my boy spend on it. The car was brought as a pass time for us both something for him to look back on when his older , that dog is going to make memories and thats all that matters. Insurance lol yeah what a killer that is nowadays for the younger people , but we're talking about 9 years time and I wouldn't image there will be that many GTI's on the road by then so should qualify for classic insurance. Whilst we are doing it up my wife is going to keep it ticking over as a shopping car and short runabouts along with show runs when we get it to that standard. My main concern at the moment is to just get it road worthy as I can't keep it in the lock up its in for much longer , once its road worthy time isn't going to be an issue. So its all hands on at the moment lol.

tomsy
Doesn't look that bad to me especially for what you paid for it, the only advice i would give is get the underneath solid and keep it that way and the rest is your boys own choice on how he wants his car to look, seems he's already got the ebay bug looking for parts hope he doesn't push the price up on parts i may want lol.
