You definitely cannot find this kind of thing on the internet.

The inlet manifold and variable valve timing and fuel pump have a habit of dying

easily re mapped and some nice coil overs available, some came with recaros

watch for rust have seen some rooters out there!

You're not thinking of replacing the escort are you?

I've seen a couple of 170 conversions.

Humm im not saying a word.lol

I've got an ST170 for the wife's car, we've had it for about 18 months and done around 27,000 miles in it. It's a great all round car, nice and comfy, practical but still goes well if you boot it and the handling and brakes are ace.

We've only really had problems with the Inlet Manifold Runner Control fault but I've not had to spend any money on fixing that, only a little time to re-fix the spring inside the control box, lubricate the gears for it and also lubricate the flaps inside the manifold too.....job done!

Although the engine would go well in an Escort it would be hard to say if you'd be much better off than if you fitted an RS engine instead.

imrc packs up and costs £240 for a new one!! its a little alloy box fitted behind the engine on the bulk head with a cable coming out goin to the inlet, get someone to start the car while looking to see if the cable pulls a flap on the inlet.
