foxdie
Yeah, but lets see what the garage says. if it is a write-off then theirs no-point. But as this is a cherished car im willing to spend about £1000 fully restoring it. so i cant see it being written-off. EDIT: and even if i do restore it, i want to sell the car as standard, so i need those rims . Edited January 18, 2004 by foxdie_GTI

RobMk6
damm thought i was gonna have them when i read this post!!! i cant see the pic but they do write cars of for stupidly little amounts of damage!!! good luck anyway!!! on the note of that, my 1300 escort got a clout from Mr Green Van Man last year right outside my house he was only going about 5mph but it hit the rear door and killed that off and hit the rear arch, no structural damage or owt but the insurance paid out £1500 (CAR ONLY COST US £1400) in only bout a month, AND we got to keep the car, and minus the door i managed to repair it myself for £100ish (just below) so even if its not a write off you could actually make a profit from it. cos if it got hit agian we'd get the book value for what its worth now!!!! FUNNY THE WAY INSURANCE WORKS.
Colin
Shite one mate, prsonally i would have to look very carefully if i was gonig to spend a grand on a ca to fix it up, bearing in mind that it still might not be right afterwards. I know you got no insurance to cover it (thats why I pay an extra £400 a year for full comp)but you might wanna consider sellnig it off to a scrapyard, or purchasing another lesser spec diamond white mk6 car, and swapping over all the bits and pieces, eg seats etc and if its white, anything extra like mirrors and doors etc, you can just swop em over, white hardly fades at all, so it won't be noticable at all if you get a decent one. And yes, you could then flog the car to the scrappers (the gti) and wolla, a cheaper spec car, with gti bits and pieces and cheaper insurance and a 1.8 engine.. Just m thought and suggestion. foxdie
Just had the body shop guys down They said. Saying the steering rack isnt completely fucked and its just the end bit that can be replaced then hes thinking £250-£300 and 3days. IF the steering rack is completely gone then hes thinking about double that (£600) the bumper costs about £150 from ford + spraying and knocking out dent £90.
