Rennie
When i was fitting a 2.0 into the fiesta si i noticed that the 1.6 injectors where black and the 2.0 mondeo ones where beige. now that i have the escort i was looking around the engine and noticed that the injectors fitted on the engine are black so im guessing that these are the 1.6 injectors! so just wondering if i fitted a set of 2.0 injectors would this make any diffrence to performance? also have a weird idle problem doesnt always happen its rather random, the revs drop to 500 revs then pick up back to 1000 and keeps doing this constantly but it doesnt do it all the time anyone any ideas what it could be? cheersAdam
Rob84
the idling issue could be due to the ICV needind a good clean or replacing

geordie_aaron
i dont THINK they'd be much point to fittin 2ltr injectors because it will only pump in as much petrol as needed via the reading of the air intake from the MAF...
Rennie
if it had a 2.0 maf fitted would it be any diffrent?
sortedford
id run 2.0 injecors along with a 2.0 ecu and mas if the 1.6 stuff provided good enough ford would have used all the same stuff in the cars
geordie_aaron
yeah but surely that needs more petrol because its got a bigger CC??
marcus
no, the 1.6 injectors can flow upto 170bhp the colours vary for the zetec injectors also, u will NEED the 2.0 ECU if u use the 2.0 injectors a it dont work, trust me i tried no point though cos the 1.6 ones flow to 170hp like stated above
sortedford
i still dont trust it, hence why were gonna use 2.0 stuff on stoos im working on the following (estimates)engine:136induction and exhaust:6cams:15total:157, add a chip to that there not gonna be upto the job

You can't simply use the 2.0L ecu, even splicing it into the escort loom is very likely to cause problems. Hence why I've decided to go for a unichip and get the car back to 100% health before the show season is over. And simply LOL @ the power figures! sortedford
whys that ralph?i think 6bhp is about right from a induction and exhaust?piper are the ones who gave the cam figures, infact i think they said more than that.i forgot stoos gonna be runnning nos too, so itll deffinatly be over 170but yeh were gonna use a mondeo loom, best to do it right than bodged
Ex-Finesse
Personally, I am pessimistic about power increases. I say nothing for an exhaust / induction kit. On some fronts, an induction kit could lose you power if it ends up sucking in hot air from the engine bay. 15bhp from a set of cams on a fuel injected motor is extraordinary. Are they one of the top spec ones which work best 3k - 7.5k?? Don't wanna go too mad or valves and pistons could be getting a little close for comfort I would have said 6bhp max from a set of cams alone..... and Piper are going to state a high figure, they're trying to sell them. Was the increase specifically for a 2.0 zetec, or a wide ranging "gain up to 15bhp" which of course would cover older cars with carbs. Then, standard -> wild spec, 15bhp is a little less unbeleivable. NOS is a completely different ball game altogether! Re. "bodged" - yeh I do still kind of regard it as a bodge. However I recently found out that a unichip maps both fueling and ignition!! I thought it was just fueling before. With this new knowledge, I decided it'd be the best way of getting up to speed quick as possible with no more hassle. Let us know how it goes
Danzetec
When I looked at Piper cams it stated 16bhp for the 2.0 litre zetec and if the ecu is being mapped appropriatly I can't see why this wouldn't be achieveble If I remember rightly the next set were a higher gain but he said they worked best with throttlebodies. As for 'bodged'- the zetec ecus are basically the same just with different values set in the memory surely? So theres no difference after being remapped anyway Is a darn site easier to use the original anyway cos of the integrated immobiliser
