sidrick
I could pick up a cheap mk6 rs2k next week that's had light front and rear end damage. Was just wondering how much I could expect to make from breaking the car, as I won't bother with it if it's not worth my time. Due to my location, posting things like a rear beam wouldn't be an option. It has 16" Mondeo alloys to add to the equation.
KNITERIDER
engine-250-300ish?mondy alloys- 80-120ish?interior-200ish?rear beam-120ish?then you have the shell and other small bits
danposs86
Surely the main money in an RS2000 will be the front and rear. Headlights, bumpers, grilles, etc. The rest of the money is in the interior and mechanical parts, but you have already said that postage is an issue. Small bits will sell easily and easy to post, but it depends on how much you buy the car for the first place as to whether you will break even. Danzetec
I'd say you'd need to look into a courier for shipping to get to the widest amount of potential buyers

The front and rear bumpers are gonners, the rest looks ok (from pictures. I could get a pallet for the engine, but there's no danger I could be arsed with trying to post a rear beam. I'd also like a rolling shell for getting it picked up and scrapped.
sortedford
Interior would sell for about £70, it all depends- make it cheap it wont sit around, price it about right and it could take time to sell.

sidrick
I'm not entirely sure about the possibility of shipping a complete interior either. I was thinking of keeping it and the engine, but that'd mean I'd have to buy another Escort at some point, which I'm not sure I want to do. stuey650
if its a mk6 it might not even have discs at the back.I've sold (and bought) shed loads of escort bits through the scot ads in the past, not sure if there would still be the same market these days as that was a few years ago when escorts were abit thicker on the ground etc but you still got a fair chance selling engine, beam, gearbox etc locally without the hassle of posting. emember all the little stuff that sells on ebay that people pay stupid money for, i.e delayed interior light, clocks, electric mirrors etc. These bits all add up. JC
The price on escort parts has dropped... more money in focus parts, esp the focus ghia
Stu
If you can't be bothered to post stuff then there's not much point in continuing.
onehotminute_191
if you feel like taking a half arsed approach its probably not worth it. you got to do all the work then get bits posted then hope that people will actually want to buy it. id say you could make your £300 back fairly easy just buy selling the engine/gearbox conversion and the interior as long as its not too badly damaged. other than than the rest of it comes down to rust. if its a good shell you could ask for a few hundred and see what you get as its a genuine rs shell so long as its good for a reshell. plenty of rust on escorts as we all know. but you'll need to have a good look all round it to decide that. or scrap it for about £60 or whatever the rate is now. not too good atm. other little interior bits sell for a few quid but then it comes down to if you can be arsed. i think the main problem is finding buyers. but the engine conversions and interiors seem to sell ok on here. why cant you just buy it for £300 and sell it on again for £500??
