co op let you be a named driver and earn your own no claims so i saw on the telly this morning :D

Plus it starts at 19 if you read the small print ... or i'd have a years no claims as we speak! ... I was well pissed off when I found that out, because I was on my dad's with Co-op last year!

I got my insurance through adrian flux, stated with them because i had a mini and they specialise in mini insurance but when i had my first kid i got my escort SI at the age of 18. I gave AF a ring and they quoted me £670.00.

That included courtesy car, legal costs, and just £100 excess.

Then i got hit from behind. I had a 07 plate mazda 6 on my drive the next day. Was really quick. i had it for 3 months and didn't pay a penny.

i currently use elephant they are good enough for me and quite cheap aswell

who ever has a drivin license in your family with no convictions or accidents add to your policy as a named driver, that works

insurance companys also look at your age, where you live, the value of the car, how easy it is to nick, is it a 3door or convertible, NCB and drivin experience

for example where i work in walthamstow which is re-known for car theft, its near impossible for me to insure my rs2000, i live in rainham and i find it easy and cheap to do so

if you are a new driver eg being 17 then they think u may have a accident and having no experience they fear for the worst

if your car is a 3 door then insurance will cost slightly more, due to the fact that if u have a accident and u have passengers in the rear, its gonna be hard for them to get out

if its a convertible and you roll the car you have no protection

theres lots more to it aswell

its aload of balls but best bet is to swallow it all with the cheapest you can find and build up your no claims, that way insurance will eventually come down

i pay £850 fully comp for a rs2000 4x4 with 3 yrs no claims, 0 accidents (2 taken off because over 3 years ago no)

and 3 points

got a quote with quin, £1.7k a year for a 1.8 TPFT thats once i've passed my test (im 18 btw)

thats with 15k miles a year, no NCB and less than 1 years driving experience

as a learner it was about £1.3k same details

put the owner of the car as your parents and also add your mum/dad or both as named drivers

My driving instructor today told me to put down my dads postcode as where he lives is a nicer place as that will reduce the cost of insurance

I do all the things you've mentioned Danny i've tried adding my brother/dad, saying its ina garage everything but I think it's my postcode thats letting me down at he minute, I know my brother had to pay over the odds aswell when he had his escort..although his was modified.

if its a convertible and you roll the car you have no protection.....wrong, its easier to get into and steal - thats how they'll look at it.

i wouldn't say its going to be in a garage at night if you dont have one, if you have one do it but sometimes they will send someone out to asses the car your wanting to be insured (usualy if its got lots of mods never known any other times) and obviously if you dont have a garage it wont go down well :P

when i got a quote i put my grandads post code down and said it would be in the garage there every night

as for puttin down your dads post code i wudnt suggest that to anyone, cause if your car does get stolen, they would want to know y your car is parked somewhere else, they can be very funny about it

and as for my comments bout convertibles, yes theft, and vandalism is also a key to look for, and bein a 3 door they do take into consideration of accidents bein as ive insured both 3 doors and 5 doors of exact same model and spec apart from being convertible and prices have varied due to the fact its a soft top
