JC
How do people manage to insure modified escorts with a rear beam off an RS2000? As i phoned up my insurance and asked how much will an RS2000 rear beam cost to be insured and they wont add it stating: "the underwriter of your policy is not willing to accept the increased risk incurred by making this modification - this is not a usual modification which is done frequently" WTF?! may not have helped as that was in reference to a "Rear Beam 2000" what ever that is?!" Stu
I'm not sure you really need to tell them. The only advantage you get is by having rear discs instead of hubs. Tell them you want to put a rear disc conversion on to make the car safer and see what they say.
KNITERIDER
dont think insurance see it like that tho, way it was explained to me was; your car brakes are more than adequate to stop the car, if you wish to improve the brakes, suspension etc etc this must mean you want to drive faster so up goes the insurance
hicksy
I know its a tiny bit off topic, but i told my insurance i put bigger brakes on and they didnt charge me any more
bluliz
Mine is listed as "Full RS2000 Brake Upgrade" Which is exactly what it is!
Danzetec
dont think insurance see it like that tho, way it was explained to me was; your car brakes are more than adequate to stop the car, if you wish to improve the brakes, suspension etc etc this must mean you want to drive faster so up goes the insurance I wouldn't say that escort brakes are more than adequate and if you wish to improve your brakes this must mean you want to stop faster The way it was explained to me was; anything non-standard will increase the premium Like Stu says, just say the rear drums have been upgraded to discs. They have obviously got the wrong end of the stick - a '2000 rear beam' means nothing to a lot of people
