chrisxn
Right, I need to know, I havent gotten around to getting breakdown cover yet. I'm lazy BUT! If I were to breakdown, can I join on the roadside and get assistance then and there? Cheers Chris

Cheers Chris Not 100% sure but i think you have to wait 24hrs, i may be wrong. Its just if everyone did that they would only get members when they break down & other fee's for uncovered members would be pointless? wwwd
I wouldn't try it mate. Because if you breakdown, sign up and then call them 5 minutes later then they'll tell you to f*ck off. Plus I'm sure they need 24 hours to process it and send off the paperwork before it actually becomes official. So unless you're willing to wait next to your broken down car for 24 hours before getting picked up then just sign up. It's only around 20 quid with all these sign up offers
hamspeed
You can, but it will cost you £150, well the AA did... I learnt the hard way, well worth just signing up beforehand! Might be useful clicky. Edited April 5, 2009 by hamspeed
PeeWee
Think i pay about 80 quid a year for my RAC, not much really when you think of your insurance & tax costs & i do get a lot for my 80 quid regards to cover.Worth it just for peace of mind tbh!Had it for years now without a second thought. bluliz
If you want to join while broken down at the side of the road your wallet will get hammered. RAC with Roadside Recovery. Breakdown 500miles from home? they will take you and your car home all included in your policy.

If you don't bother getting any then you deserve to get ripped off.

smithyandco
I pay £55 through my insurance for the top end cover via RAC... Covers everything inc abroad (Think it's £120+ to buy on it's own)Talk to your insurance company... see if they can do you a deal (Mines through Fortis insurance by the way)
chrisxn
Right, I guess I got lucky not breaking down on my 250 mile journey yesterday then! I'll make sure I have it by the end of the week! lol. I never really thought about it cos I dont usually leave the city. If I were to break down, I could easily get someone nearby to tow me home! I'll get it sorted, Cheers lads (n lasses?)
