LiamGTR
How does this work? I found up my insurance company this morning to enquire about how much my insurance would go up/down/stay the same if I changed from a: R Reg, 1.4 Ford Escort Encore, 5 dr to R Reg, 1.4 Ford Escort Encore, 3 dr And it would mean my insurance would go up by £10 a month, why ??? LiamGTR
I wasn't getting at the less doors mor theft thing, but they ar near enouh identical cars, so why would they add an extra £10/month for me to lose 2 doors?
andaba
It's like Shawdreamer said - desirability. Insurers know that stereotypical chavs with crowbars are always gonna go for the 1.4 3door over the 5 door - it's more appealing to their small brains. Gonzo0
Insurance companies probably see 3 doors as a more "Sporty" variant. Generally young people who dont have a family have a 3dr (apart from me lol)
LiamGTR
and me! lol 3Dr is definitely out the window, I got a quote today on a 1.4 3Dr finesse and it came to £1,300 and that was on my dads insurance! So god knows what it would be if I went on my own like I am on my current car.
dutchkev
its all pot luck - ive also been told (dont know if its true) but of you do a quote on the weekend, its generally dearer than doing a quote on a weekday

geordie_aaron
when your younger its usually the rule of thumb to keep the same car as you've goten 'the cheapest deal' based on THAT car....
