My Dad had one and he passed on the torch as they say.

I was influenced a bit by others. My old man always slated them a bit, he wasn't much of a Ford man, but my best mate's dad was, so always had Sierra/Escorts/Fiestas knocking about. Then the same mate's older sister had a very early MK3 Orion on an H plate, it was a 1.6i Ghia in crystal blue. He lowered it, put 15" Evo-Rs on it and I was smitten. Felt really quick to me at the time and I instantly wanted one. One of his mates also had a Firnwood Blue 1.6 LX that ended up sat really low on 17s with smoothed boot and things which made me want one even more. So I got a MK5b Escort saloon as a first car and ended up here from the Orions really, as just grew to love all Escorts. Had stacks of em, had a couple of other cars, but always seem to come back to Escorts. Just love the look of them, the fact they're cheap, easy to mess with and a laugh to chuck about.

 

There's a lot of newer/better cars I'd like, but I'm not really in a position to, so I'm happy messing with these old things for a while longer yet.

Bought my first escort (1.3 mk6 poverty spec) off my mum as a bit of a favour as she was trying to get rid of it due to failing health, was looking around for a car anyways so it killed 2 birds with 1 stone. Also both my mum and dad had both owned escorts (mk5b 5 door and a 2 mk6 5 doors between them) so I knew what I was getting with the car.

 

Ended up getting the 2k as the car I'd bought off my mum was on it's last legs and I was earning good money so made the jump and bought the first one I physically saw lol. Wish I'd done some more looking around as it was a bit rotten on the sills and needed brakes, tyres and new exhaust was needed heh.

 

I'd love to get an escort cossie one day but doubt I'd ever have the money to do so- having to SORN the 2k for the 2nd year in a row but hopefully will be getting her back for the summer
