88-XR3i
Maplin is the best place, thats where I got mine, only cost about £11 or so, and you only need 1 as it gives an indoor and outdoor, which basically can be cold and warm end really Although my 1 died recently, I used it to keep check on all my animals to get them set up perfectly

88-XR3i
This is not meant in a harsh way, but to me £15 would be a price worth paying for that piece of mind that your snake wont get hurt, its only an extra couple of quid for the knowledge that your snake will be safe. Check out pets at home or summin, they are doing reptile stuff more...Personally, if your going with a pulse stat on a ceramic then your best with this one http://www.petsathome.com/shop/bulb-metal-...y-pro-rep-28124 Although more expensive, they protect the snake from the heat that a ceramic can give off...Although I think I have 1 of these kicking about that I dont need, I have the wire 1 due to using a dimmer as they run a lower temperature due to the way they work, so dont heat the cage up as much If I have a look for mine, if your close to pompey, I will let you know and you can have it (or close to segensworth on a weekday as I work up that way near Makro) Edited March 11, 2010 by 88-XR3i

88-XR3i
I dont work at makro, I work 'near' it at a place called Elan Digital which is the newer building on your left at the bottom of the road before you hit the small roundabout going to Makro, after you come off the Segensworth roundabout heading that way I dont need anything for it mate, its not worth anything really, im just happy if it helps, and stops your snake being a tit like they are and deciding it would be a fantastic idea to hang off it and burn themselves hahaha! My cage has stopped my Royal burning himself, as he used to think it was fun to hang off it....The only problem is he broke the clip holding the lamp fitting up and I woke up to find the heat light on the floor of the viv with the cable pulled right in! Good job it didnt set the aspen alight with the heat, luckily it doesnt get warm that much overnight as my place was warm enough Edited March 11, 2010 by 88-XR3i

Bloody royal mail! You have that big reptile place in waterloovile dont you?
88-XR3i
we have 2 near me, South Coast which is about 5mins from my house, and Emsworth Reptiles which is about 10mins in the other direction from my place....Personally for animals I would use Emsworth, Paul in there knows his stuff! I only use south coast mainly for equipment and reptile food This heat guard I have (somewhere) is one you screw onto the roof of the viv, holds it there well, but I use a smaller metal guard that gets held onto the bulb holder like a lamp shade I will speak to my other half later and see if she has seen it, and if so I will ask her to dig it out for me to bring into work and we can meet up...Hopefully I will have an answer for you today if it still exists Last I remember it was a bit bent, needed to bend a bit to let the cable run out of it easier as the viv it was in didnt have a hole in it for the cable to go out the roof to the plug, but I couldnt complain as I was given the viv...I just changed it later and didnt need the guard as I used it for other animals that dont need heat like that
