shawdreamer
do you really expect anyone to go "yer I am continuely breaking the law right now" on a open public forum? no ones gonna admit to fiddling their insurance even if its more common then most admit (lets be fair lads, theres a fair few who tell even small porkies to drop there premium a bit) but I have no doubt atall that a few 2L conversions havnt been declared to the respective insurance companies. Craig855S
A few years ago I "got a quote" from flux on a 1.8, yes, 1.8 conversion on a 1.6, and it came back at 2 grand, wheras a straight 1.8Si woulda been 900 quid... And no normal insurance company (like tesco etc) will insure engine changes.. Probably better off insuring a straight RS2000 if you want a nippy escort... Get a quote though and see. JC
Speak to LordJC I believe he has just done exactly what you wanted and is insured through Chris Knotts who are on here, with his engine declared yup, i'm with Chris Knotts, paid about £200 more for the engine mod, 1.6 to 2.0. But i look at this way it was a new engine, worth a few pennies so i want it insured. They did excel themselves, made it a really easy process and understood what I was doing and insisted I had bigger brakes. Changed the engine details too on the V5, just a question of sending the V5 to the DVLA with an report of the build and the new engine number
