Replica Watches

rolex, tag, porche, bulova, citizen,

100 quid would only get you d&g, swatch, diesel etc which are ok for every day watches but they just a bit tacky.

Yeah, that's pretty much the same way I feel about watches.

I suppose you're either a fan of watches and appreciate the finer ones, or just think watches are there to do a job.

Agreed, 100 quid doesn't go far if you look in the jewellers window! I've actually got a couple real Tag Heuer and Armani watches which set me back around a grand each. I fancy a Rolex but can't justify spending around £8k for one!

Anyway, apparently the best website is:

Perfect Watches

But I'm wary about what actually arrives at your door.

:O

You spent a thousand pounds on a watch?! TWICE?!

For a thousand pounds, I'd expect my watch to at least time travel. Preferably with me in tow, otherwise Id never see it again and that would be pointless.

Guess expensive watches just aren't my thing...

And what are £100 watches tacky? What's tacky about them?

btw: use this as an opportunity to explain what makes these expensive watches worth the money.

Well not quite, one was a 21st birthday present.

I didn't say I necessarily agree with the tacky part, I have a few cheaper watches which I like just as much, and in fact one of my favourite watches is a £20 Seiko I got from my missus.

I just have loads of watches and love them, can't help it. My Dad's got a couple of genuine Rolex's and I get my interest from him. We're not privileged by any stretch of the imagination but just like watches.

I can hardly justify why they're so expensive, surely it's like anything. You could drive an Escort for the rest of your life couldn't you, since by your logic a car is a car.

Yes, but then an MG isnt exactly bling, is it?

I bought the MG because its a bigger, better version of a car than an escort. It goes faster, stops sooner, turns better and has a better NCAP rating.

What does an expensive watch do better than a £20 Seiko?

Anyway, I think I've hijacked your thread...sorry :D

Can we get a mod to clean this thread up?

I got a terrible Rolex replica the first time i went to afghanistan. It broke when i tried to change the time (the adjuster pin pulled out!!)

It looks quite smart though (TBH i didnt even notice it said rolex and had the logo on the face when i bought it, i just thought it was a smart brushed steel watch with gold trim)

OMG HOPE YOU PUT THE PIN BACK IN!!!! it would blow up otherwise.

As for the op, if you can live with walking around with a grand on your wrist then crack on, yes you know its expensive but no one else will unless they see it and even then they may think its fake (unless they know you). Then there is the possibility of being jumped/filled in and having the watch stolen.

As far as im concerned a watch should tell me the time as thats all i need to do, what it needs to be is hard-wearing, which if a cheap £30 watch lasts me for a year then happy days, it doesn't necessarily mean buying a more expensive watch will last longer. However if i worked in an office then i may consider a more expensive one.

Same goes with everything for me, if it does what i want it to do, i can't buy it cheaper from somewhere else and i like the colour then i'll buy it.

I like how people here openly slate luxury items and names, yet the companies that produce these products are the most profitable of all and have coped the best during the global recession.

Obviously the view that these particular items are a waste of money isn't shared by everyone.

Namely because the people who buy these watches are in well paid and safe jobs....

If your earning hundreds of thousands a year or more then an 8 grand watch is fine, if you're earning "sub prime" amounts of money then a 8k watch, or a 1k replica, shows some fucked up priorities in my book. The watch I'm wearing on my wrist right now is a £20 Bench piece of crap from Avon, I'd happily wear it if i worked in a bank (I wouldnt wear my "work" watch to a bank job though (rubber casio sea-pathfinder))

The watch I had a couple of years ago was an adidas one that was brushed steel and polished steel with a blue face and I can't see why anyone would think less of me for wearing it anywhere, even a decent resturant (If the maitre-de looked at my wrist and then looked at me like I was scum I'd be amazed)

Horses for courses though, some people think a car is a car, some people think a watch is a watch, but we all know that cars are very different from eachother in many ways (practicality, safety, speed, comfort etc) wheras a watch does one thing, tells the time (most also tell the day and date and are waterproof to allow for swimming) so I dont see why you have to have one made out of solid gold and built to a better standard than most cars

Would never spend that amount of money on a watch or buy a fake one personally watches don't interest me one bit, but if you can afford an 8k watch then you obviously have more money than sense, perhaps I was brought up the old fashioned way of if you can't afford it don't buy it, but spending that amount on something that tells the time down right fecking stupid, each to there own tho.
