:) Wasn’t the weather fabulous? The forecast (BBC on-line) was for rain – wrong!

We had a great journey as far as Silverstone Services where I nearly had a heart attack. It appears Eric The Escort decided to disgorge the contents of his ‘bowels’ (soot) all over the rear end, even on the roof!! At first we thought it was oil! (the best service he’s ever had – drove like magic after that). We left the ‘services’ just after the Evo convoy (around 7.30 I think) and didn’t get onto the stand until almost 10.00am!! It’s about time BRDC got it’s act together – their organization fell to bits (the gate staff had to remove all their direction boards “because there were too many cars coming in!” Don’t they know what to expect by now?

I walked around the stand twice and thought the cars looked fabulous – sorry Focus fans but they simply don’t hold a candle to the good old Escorts no matter which model or year. I can’t imagine them looking any better in ten year’s time than they do now, which certainly can’t be said about the cars on the Evo and Mkv stands!!

I recognized Matt and looked around for Waxmonkey but didn’t see him (disappointed). It’s a pity we can’t wear some kind of identification – I couldn’t match up cars/people on the Mkv stand either!! ?(

Ian’s car looks heaps better ‘in the flesh’ than in pics., and made a terrific centrepiece.

Thanks for posting all the great pics., I didn’t get any as Nick (son) did a 2-hour stint on the Mkv barbeque and I’m not allowed to lay one dodgy digit on his precious digi-cam. When he’d finished cooking duties, he dragged me round stand-after-stand-after-stand buying ‘bits’ for his BMW!! after which he/Tracey (g/f) and I watched all the track action until the last blown gasket!!

When we got back to the Stand, Eric was the only car there: everyone else had gone!!

We abandoned the M1 on the way home and took the A414 and A10 home – hardly any traffic at all, so got home in half the time it took to arrive.

A thoroughly enjoyable day. Now I shall go out and check Eric hasn’t died during the night!

Was a great day! Good to see regular faces Si, Al and Ian, thanks Jordan and Wax for introducing yourselves, nice to meet you, and Simon1h good to chat to you, didn't get to talk to Badboy or Ross! Did say hello to Lee but don't know if heard me or I didn't hear him acknowledge that hello! Would've come further into the heart of the Evo stand to hunt people out but was too scared! Think it was quite good to have the two stands next to each other!

Once cleaned up the cab spent the rest of the day walking round the show, and pissed off that missed peeps like justcrusin, skyline owners club, gtr owners and banzi etc that were over the bridge apparently! :vangry:

Didn't even meet half the people on mkvreg cos didn't spend enough time at the stand :(

Some amazing cars there and good track action! Even bigger show than ever!!

(no pics of my cab this time ;( )
