Andy 3i
I'm looking for some new suspension to replace my tired old gmax and I've found spax vsx for £333.00 but I've also found apex for £279.00. Now the spax ones are for -40mm but they are for a rs2000, yet the apex are -30mm but it says it's days not for the rs2000. I'm guessing the difference is to do with the rear disc beam? So I'm just after opinions really
Stu
Are you looking for springs and dampers? I can supply Apex stuff if that's what you're after.
Andy 3i
Yes if possible . I believe that matching shocks and springs are much better than just springs. Would it be possible to PM me a price? I'm guessing that if you supply Apex you rate them to some extent?
Stu
Never used them, so can't comment i'm afraid. I'd only use Koni or Bilstein if not coilovers.
Andy 3i
Ah right, fair comment. The description on Apex sounds pretty good, but that can always be misleading. I was hunting for Koni but I couldn't dig up much. As for coilovers I found done budget ones from pro sport but I've had cheap coilovers on my golf...nice and low but didn't last much more that 12 months
Stu
Apex is budget stuff, it's not going to be in the same league as Koni et al. It is what it is though. Let me know the Apex part number for the kit and i'll get you a price.
Andy 3i
SP40-1010-40 apparently? That's via cam skill so hopefully it means something. Surely they're better than gmax?
Stu
Alright, i'll get a price for you on Monday. Camskill will be tough to beat though but i'll try!
Hezz
For £50 I'd go for spax
SLEEMAN
As above I would say spax is better! I had the psx kit and suited my old escort just right!
Rockerrob666
just checked out the nw deemon tweeks catalogue and they're listing Koni for the mk6. bit pricey, but might be worth a look??
Andy 3i
I would imagine I'd be needing mk5 shocks?? They aren't the same are they? Isn't the drop link different? Would I need to get rs ones because of my rear disc beam?

SLEEMAN
shouldn't matter about the shocks on the rear beam as they are the same. and yours being a mk5b its still technically a mk5 with two studs on each top mount. its only from 95 onward mk6 that came with the new design shocks but the rear ones will fit either way! as long as the spacers are there for the lower mounting bolt holes all should be well!
