Has anyone ever replaced the washer stalk?

Was wondering if anyone has ever replaced their washer stalk? I thought my washer pump was gone and just replaced it. Before I did it the back washer was working but not the front. This is still the case but for now I have just switched the pipes so when I use the switch for the back the front sprays. So now I am thinking the switch is gone. Is it easier to just replace the stalk? If so how? Or is it easier to just take it apart and look first? I drive a x reg mk6 escort finesse 1.6 petrol

As far as I know you can just take of the casing from around the back of the steering wheel (screws underside) You should then be able to see what's what from there. . I would imagine couple of screws and a plug. I need to do this to upgrade to 6 speed wiper stalk so will eagerly wait for any confirmation on this.

Really easy, there is two screws at the top by the hazard light switch. (Screws should be torex)

Lift the top part off.

You will then see the stalks which is held in with one screw behind the hazard switch.

Right disconect battery before remove as the horn will sound.

Pull the stalks out from the top.

You have wires on the left and right of the stalk, these are push and pull connectors

It's not had to do just abit fiddly.

Have fun
