Stu
What is the spec? It can't be that powerful with that intercooler on it! Please tell me you're not paying megabux for it
Mike C
What is the spec? It can't be that powerful with that intercooler on it! Please tell me you're not paying megabux for it It's running that intercooler due to regs of the rallying it was intended for and the fact that it's restricted at the moment, again due to regs. I will be having a FMIC and it'll be de-restricted... It's a 2.5, currently running a modified VF38, Omega pistons, rods, VVTi heads, GEMS ECU with a load of extras, equal length manifolds, errrrm, christ knows what else, a load of it went over my head, lol, but the speed at which it picks up is crazy! Stu
I thought you said you'd never run an equal length exhaust manifold
geordie_aaron
having a FMIC is going to give you more lag then you felt with that on.... you've said its got anti lag..... but still lol
Mike C
I thought you said you'd never run an equal length exhaust manifold I didn't say that! I said "We'll see..." I did also say that I didn't mind the "2cyl" style noise though. This sounds a lot better though, lol! Will post a more comprehensive spec list shortly... having a FMIC is going to give you more lag then you felt with that on.... you've said its got anti lag..... but still lol I'm not exaggerating when I said there was NO lag even with the anti-lag switched off... Tez162003
equal lenght manifold ruins the burble, guy i know of scoobynet has a tyre r scoob and it just doesnt sound right with the equal length ones. thought you also said you were getting a 2.0 not 2.5? escortjas
It being a 2.5 will help with the torque and will reduce the feeling of any lag, plus its a stronger block.Looks good though, and the spec seems very good, so with a FMIC and any other changes you make, it should be a beast lol. This is the best sounding Impreza I've ever heard, trust me... It doesn't have the flat burble, but the noises it makes are crazy. If you look back, my mind changes from one to the other for various reasons, but the 2.0 just sucks compared to the 2.5, feels gutless...

Mike C
Won't be having it for a while yet, got to pay for it yet, lol, but it's mine effectively. The rear of the car is progressing nicely now, and is close to being a rolling shell again. Pics soon
Harvez
Just a short break in the work that's all, will be resumed in a week and half's time. Fingers crossed for an engine update shortly too, everything crossed in fact! i'm sick of hearing this over the last 2 weeks from numerous people... if i tie my cock in any more knots.......it'll drop off!!! Im more impressed with the fact you managed to tie one knot with that little thing let alone several (Hi fcuker ) Mike - Be interested to see a print out mate, small turbo there, doesnt matter about internals i thought the impreza's struggled to make that sort of power without a large intercooler, something doesnt look right. Im not convinced sorry mate nothing personal. I meant large turbo, not intercooler! Which rally rules dont allow FMIC then? as that instently excludes Evo's, Cosworths and the vast majority of 4wd turbo cars, let alone rally ones

Which rally rules dont allow FMIC then? as that instently excludes Evo's, Cosworths and the vast majority of 4wd turbo cars, let alone rally ones None as far as I know. What I was implying was that the power must be restricted to 300BHP, so there's no need for a FMIC. As for the turbo, we'll see what it's producing once it's de-resticted and remapped. If it falls short of expectations, it'll get changed for a GT35 and external wastegate, simple as. But I don't want to compromise driveability and the "no lag" set-up it's currently running. That, to me is more important than reaching any specific power figure, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it
Rob84
WRC impreza's that can only run 300bhp still run front mounts, and bloody big ones at that too!
Mike C
This hasn't been in the WRC though, lol. The car it was in has had a LOT of money spent on it, but a LOT of money to average Joe is still not close to a WRC team's budget, lol. As said, the engine will go in my car as is (aisde from obvious changes made out of necessity to get it in and running, plus new radiator, FMIC etc), get it de-restricted and re-mapped, see what it does, then take it from there. Whatever power it produces there is the potential for a LOT more, more than I'd need or want anyway.
