I'm planning on just doing some work to the dash myself then sending it off to be flocked when it looks how I want it to and houses the bits I'm buying (again, watch this space for that).

I would consider flocking it myself, but it looks like the gear to do it is pretty expensive.

As for the 'cooler, I think the 7-9 item is more efficient than people think from what I've seen, BUT if it doesn't work upto scratch, it'll just get swapped.

Mitsubishi quoted me £980+VAT for a new one, I got this one (done delivery miles) for £155, so it's no big deal

I wish i still knew the site i got my flock from, worked out around £18 if that i think and was said to be enough to do the whole dash, so say maybe double the order to make sure still got to be cheaper then a company doing it for u, and alot less hassle

Fair enough, your not going to know the difference though unless you run a evo cooler then swap it for a hks one

OK, well I'm also going to be starting on my interior over the next couple of weeks.

I'm using this for a bit of inspiration:

I've been looking at interiors for months and months and this is the closest I've found to the look I want. It won't be the same (it's a different car for starters), and there are a few extra bits I'll be having, plus one or 2 bits I'll do differently for personal preference, but that sort of outlines what I want.

Watch this space for updates, and we'll see how it progresses. I'll be starting on the dash very soon, and also got some parts on order that I'll have to make a place for.

The standard 'cooler will definitely work, I'm confident of that. If it turns out that it doesn't work well enough I can also switch them later. I'll make the mountings etc so as it suits an Evo 'cooler, and make sure it's not too tight, a la in an actual Evo, so if I need to uprate, any uprated Evo cooler should just slot in nicely.

As Stu says for the flocking, getting a flocked look is easy, but proper flocking is a far more in-depth process than that, and the tools required will cost a fair bit (not actually priced them up, but knowing what they are, they won't be cheap).

Will make the dash up how I want it, then send it off to somewhere like Suffolk Flocking Services. Shouldn't be too expensive, as there will only be the dash, and possibly door handles. Other pieces of trim will be A. few and far between and B. Carbon fibre

One Escort dash, most unremarkable

Plan is to cut away the bottom half (need to lose some off the bottom of the centre piece anyway due to transmission tunnel, but want rid of all of that piece anyway)

Get rid of the vents as they will serve no real purpose. So cut away what's surplus to requirements on the dash, re-make the ends ready for flocking.

Then there's the insert, which again it'll bye bye vents and bye bye heater contols to make way for gauges and a few others pieces. I'll cut and make that piece to suit, then send it off to be used as a mould for a carbon fibre item.

Then make another new panel for switches (race/rally style) out of carbon fibre, and in ignition panel the same.

It looks good in my head, hope it does in reality, lol

Anyway Aaron there is nothing Different at all between the VXR dash & mine, only difference is the steering wheel, so it would be cheaper to just get a normal corsa ;)

Mike the car is coming along brilliantly, love every bit of it, cant wait to see it finished, and The dashboard sounds interesting :thumb:
