trickydicky
Going to ASDA about 2 hours ago and went round a left hand bend.My stereo turned off, then turned on again. I thought WTF?Then it did it again.I say to my mate in the passenger seat WTF?Then my whole electric system dies, and comes back on.I'm like WTFBBQ?And so I stop, and put the hazard lights on.No hazard lights.I open the bonnet.I see a wad of smoke and flame.I run away and phone 999.The fire brigade put the fire out.I get towed home from my dad.I'm going to take pictures tomorrow and show you all. Then I'm going to break what is left of my car. cosmicnutter_1993
Fook Me!! Sorry Man Is it completely burnt out? Glad your okay though
trickydicky
It's not completely burnt out no. The front end is pretty much gone. I can't describe where because I'm not technically minded enough. I'll show you pictures tomorrow. I can't claim through the insurance because to get the £400 or whatever payout means I lose my mums 8 years no claims and my insurance goes up by £2K+. So more viable to break it and buy a new car. trickydicky
I've been told it could have been the altenator? But remember I was driving it around with a knackered power steering pump..I remember your little brother saying the same thing about his car. So it might have been that i dunno
shawdreamer
seems a weird place for the fire to start?! would have thought around the battery... that is proper odd....no fuel lines anywhere near there either? alternators arc, fan blow? belt rubbed against its cover maybe?? its specially odd that the damage doesnt seem to have effected anything mechanically barring the front panel of the radiator...wtf is there there to starts a fire??? mykez69
gutted mate, not much damage, so you can salvage most the parts Edited July 11, 2009 by mykez69
shawdreamer
from the pictures the bumper look more or less intact too, even with the minor melting it might be recoverable without having to spray the entire bumper. doesnt look like its distorted the metal of you bonnet either
trickydicky
Yeh it's weird. When we were watching it from behind quite far away there was liquid on fire dripping from just on the drivers side of the car. Then when the fire brigade turned up there was a lot of black smoke before they put it out.
