Danzetec
Progress!! Â Did you use or have you tried a 6-point socket on the sump nut?
stevmo3691
Progress!!  Did you use or have you tried a 6-point socket on the sump nut?I KNOW - its AMAZING!!!!yeah, first thing i tried after the spanner came off, and most my tools are snap on so are up to the job. gonna have another try tomorrow when i have more light and will have front suspension out the way (new shocks, lowering coils and wishbones going on tomorrow) thanks kev, knew i could count on your for support  was hoping to get the new wheels on when i lower but havent started sanding them down yet for re-furb as been doing 10 other jobs really like the exhaust though. sounds much meatier but isnt too intrusive. although looks bit big atm, hopefully once skirts, spats, spoiler and bigger wheels are on it wont look so big
stevmo3691
too stop people moaning - i have removed the amount of money, partly as its wrong now and mainly i'm bored of the comments of "for 3K+ i would expect cossie rims and 2.0 conversion" and the wonderful "could have got a scooby for that" plan on keeping this for few years. actually have made some plans for the next few years as i need to save up enough cat 1 alarm systemnew windscreentint windowsturbo current engine and re-build it with all up-rated internalsfull re-spray in original colouranother brake upgrade for engine modsoverhaul gearbox and fit diffescos leather recaro front seats there will be more ideas along the way i'm sure but those are my final goals as i intend to keep this escort for a great number of years to come, although once all the works done it might become just a funday play thing and have some crappy mondeo diesel as daily

stevmo3691
Don't do it!to what are you saying don't do? today i have managed to get the sump bolt out and change the o/side wishbine, shock and fit lowering coil. tomorrow i'll do the nearside and if time the rear coils too. bolts that held the wishbone on were so rotten they snapped, then had to wait for someone to take me too reading ford garage (half hour drive) to get the new bolts as my local one couldnt get them till monday and i am back at work on monday so kinda need my car.also realised not a good idea to remove both the strut and wishbone at the same time, not helped by driveshaft popping out
kevscort15
Fcuk me steve your so slow ,dropped rachys suspension by 60mm in a day ,the rears you can do in half an hour its only 2 bolts ,
stevmo3691
Fcuk me steve your so slow ,dropped rachys suspension by 60mm in a day ,the rears you can do in half an hour its only 2 bolts , i'd rather not mate, thought rachy did that jokes was lot easier on my rover as had less to do and was less akward. rears and nearside front will be done tomorrow, then i'll take pic only a subtle drop but 13 year old bolts dont like to come off easy, or in 1 piece
stevmo3691
well, i'm now going to have a cry finished the front suspension but theres a distinct height difference between the nearside and offside and the top nut wont do up very much on the offside strut where as threads normal amount on nearside so i'lll be dropping out the offside strut and dis-mantling and re-assemnbling it when i have a day off this week (dont know what it is yet) and then doing the rears on sunday. didnt start till 12.30 today and then had to get a new inner cv gaitor as mine had a big hole in it and all the grease was over my gearbox so replaced that and while driveshaft out cleaned up where the grease had gone. also examined gearlinkage as to why my selector rattles when revving past 4000 in 2nd or 3rd. plastic linkage is worn but requires replacing entire linkage or a kit i am ordering that converts it to a metal roller ball set up thats both longer lifed and cheaper slowly getting there. one day i will have the most enviable escort on here but not yet once i've robbed the bank then i will
stevmo3691
sorted heoght difference out now. dad put a bit in upside down while he was feeling bit funny (i'll let him off as he's helping me despite his MS)all good now though and my good what a transformation. car handles 20 times better and rides a million times better now it has new shocks and wishbones. looks great with a subtle drop of just 30mm, just the rears to do now then i will post pics as its a bit nose down atm. still gonna drive it like that though
