HIGHTOWER
That is fooking epic! I got the impression you were gonna just weld the flange (hehe) straight to the bottom of the 4-1 section, similar to how it would sti in an RST manifold, but that is awesome!!! Should have known better with previous work that this wouldnt' be a bodge! Just make sure you considder the weight of the turbo when you're doing the welds... Don't want them cracking under movement with the weight of the turbo trying to drag it down, too! Edited November 12, 2010 by HIGHTOWER
protouring mk6
cheres for that pic stu, thats what i am aiming to do.the manifold will have a supporting bracket down to the gearbox, maybe two to support the weight of the turbo.as now we have a turbo the bigger exhuast tubing( 3") will no longer fit round the rear axle.so the cut in the rear bumper will be smoothed of and i think i will do some sort of side exit exhaust. working in the mourning so will get the manifold welded.more pics tomorrow :thumb: dont know what size the turbo is, does anyone know how to size them as there is no size markings on it.will post some better pics later and maybe someone will know. Stu
Looks like a standard S2 T3 to me. The exhaust housing will most likely have .36 stamped on it, but if it's a .48 then that's a bit of a win. Ditch that dodgy actuator for a genuine Garrett -31 though if you want it to hold boost.. I'd definitely offer some support under the turbo - preferably not a hard bracket, but perhaps use something like a valve spring to give it some movement. protouring mk6
as you know i have scapped the old vented bonnet and gone for a standerd one( well nearlly).there,s a little twist to it. the lazor cut for the turbo mounting should be done this week.as we now have a runaround i can now take a little more time and finnish the escort exactly how i want it and maybe a bit more radical. more pics through the week.
