OK! here we go.... garage phoned me and said can i come down asap the electrician and mechi need to chat with me so here is where im up to!

they think i should sell it back to whoever i bought it from as its not worth it... in my eyes it is! so i said tell me whats the problem as im on a forum and a few people on there can help me get the specific bits i need (hopefully) so they said im looking at a time scale of 1month to be complete obviously they cant work on it every day so the first part is the electricians job he think it will take him 4-5 days to do the electrics he said the way its been wired up is a fire hazard, a fuse connected to the battery was botch job apparently and was melting! then after hes done his bit the mechanic gets to work anyway in total the say its labour of pushing £1000! then they gave me a list of parts which i need before they can even start the project which im hoping people on here can help me find ready.....

fuel filter housing

radiator

internal wiring loom

fusebox

throttle position sensor & wiring

fuel pump solunoid - advance/retard

all under dash wiring

i dont think these bits are going to come cheap either! this is not including cam belt, alarm oil change all the little extras mot/tax all the tidy up biits!

now i have told them to go ahead with it although they and most others will now think im mad and am starting to think it myself but atleast i will have kind of achieved something by getting this back on the road even though i havent done the labour and stuff my self! now what do u all think of that! balls!

your being screwed........ feck the garage off and you can do 99% of the work yourself, granted the time scale will obviously be longer but no way will you have to fork out as much to finance it.

its not really a acheivement if you have a garage put it back on the road for you......its just a cost.

do it yourself and you will have something you can stand proudly alongside and claim the acheivement all for yourself.

dont be discouraged by the "its not worth it" as if all of us on ere were honest (barring a few RS and cossie owners) none of our cars are worth the amount of effort and money we put into them..... its a labour of love we take on happily :thumb:

Firstly why is all this not simply added in here?

http://www.escortevolution.co.uk/forums/in...c=132310&hl=

Secondly we have a wanted section mate just put your parts list in there.

Thirdly feel free to also use both the Electrical section & the Mechanical section for any questions regarding problems.

Fourthly (& most important) where will sell the biggest popcorn in Cheshire this time of night as I think ill need it? :innocent:

Poor Bloo, sort your head out Dan, take your time with it, you can not rush perfection and that car once was perfect!! Don't rush and make mistakes.

Get a grip.

As much as I like what this car used to be, a multi-coloured mk5 diesel Escort is not 'perfect'.

I agree with every single word of that, except I feel that in this instance, it's definitely NOT worth it.

But its all an ongoing situation with the same car Danny, nothing changes that. Those wishing to follow your cars journey wont know all this (unless your about to say all this there too)?

I can merge it with the other topic if you prefer?

all under dash wiring no no no no no. Petrol it, use evo, get to know everyone, get some common sense. The money you save in fuel by keeping it diesel will probably take years vs. the instant money savings of team evo helping.

Sounds like they're totally having you on. Remember it's an escort, there are about 4000 other escorts sitting in scrap yards, you still have your old one, just park them next to each other and swap it all over!!! I'm sure some people round here would help of a weekend if you give them enough burgers and beer!

Doing it that way, provided all your wiring is fine is £500 max including a new petrol engine. It'll be more reliable and economical than your old car!
