TC-DNB's Juice Green Escort Cabriolet

Touch...just had a mk5 cabby come in the yard with full leather trim (i believe its quite rare these days?).

Nearly bought a set from eBay the other day but glad i didn't. Front seats are pretty worn and drivers bolster has a tear so would need re-trimming (and 3.5 runners to fit). However, i've taken the rear seats and door cards, and will re-trim my current Recaros and front door cards when i have spare money :)

Happy days - gotta love working at a breakers yard! :thumb:

I think I'm going to half leather my fronts now the rear is leather. Pics to follow tomorrow when it's light!

Bonnet pics are up fella...go back a page or 2 :)

Same here, I ended up sourcing some half leathers, plus the pattern material bit in the centres is just black/grey. No dodgy colours so will look good. Like the bonnet, really individual, good work of art and I think it looks goon on as well as off the car. :thumb:

These badboys just arrived in the post. Thanks to escortmk5. ST170 300mm set up.

Fitted these last night. Obviously don't match the front now but I'd rather that than all the dog scratches and fag burns in the old trim lol. Wish I'd waited till the weekend to fit, rather than rush after work haha but all sorted now.

  • 4 weeks later...

Nothing major to update...300mm brake set up going on tomorrow hopefully, other than that no change. I have been considering a swap as starting to lose interest in the cabby now :( . I get bored of cars too easy lol.

Anyways, couple of pics with my mates drift car.

You'd never want to get rid of the cab if you put a decent engine in it. It's a cool car. What are you going to do with an RS2000? Same old mods? You'll get bored with it in a month.

But.. if you have a short attention span, then a turbo conversion may exceed your patience as it's not an overnight job.

Both statements very true Stu, just always fancied an RS2000 and i'd love the turbo conversion but with getting my house in a couple of months i dont have the money.

If i keep it, the turbo conversion will be on the plate though.

I'm happy to work with you to do it as cheaply as possible. To be honest even an rs turbo engine would make the car night and day.

Would be a shame to get rid of it now after what you've done with it.

Drop a new engine in it!

And isnt the point of HDR so that you could reduce the exposure on the upper section/sky...?

Yea it would be a shame but at the end of the day its just a bit of metal so dont need to get too attached lol. The only thing putting me off getting rid is i know the motor is sound. No rust/rot, engine good etc etc.

Engine change would be ideal...but its money i dont have lol

I just use HDR to make it look funky...it applies it to the whole picture, so cant just target one area. Its a free iPhone app so i cant grumble :P

Sounds good Stu...thanks :thumb: I'll bare you in mind. Maybe once ive settled into my new house and we've bought all our bits n bobs i'll think about the turbo'ing :)

LOL, above post was not me by the way (work mate called this an EVO Frape)

Anyway, car is not being scrapped or used as a skip

Friday was spent fitting a new 300mm set up. Decided against using the hubs they came with as didn't know what the wheel bearings were like (and mine have recently been replaced with new ones), so just drilled my hubs to fit the mk3 mondeo calipers. Looks much better behind the wheels than the RS2000 brakes and stops much nicer. Thanks again to escortmk5 :thumb: I now have yellow calipers at front, and red at the back...will paint both gold after winters passed me thinks.

Fitted (and a tad rusty lol)

After a drive over to Essex, then up to Luton they looked a bit nicer :)

Went to a Land Rover Experience thing at the weekend (won it at a silent auction for chairty), and got a few hours driving a brand new Range Rover Vogue. Amazing motor. Anyway, passed this little old building on the way there and had to stop for some photos. Enjoy...
