Jordan99940
Forgot To add this in the first post really, This is how the ebay listing looked so you can kind of see what spec I am going to be dealing with. Right, the engine. The engine is out of of my rs turbo which I scrapped as the shell was rotting away, the intention was to just slot this lot back into another mk4/3 escort and build a track car /roadcar whatever took my fancy, that was 5 yrs ago!!! this lot has been sat in the back of the garage for over 5yrs now, all were running in good condition prior to the car being taken off the road, the engine was rebuilt approx 3yrs prior to being taken off the road, I know this as I did it, the block was honned new rings, shells gaskets etc, the camshaft was changed for a piper t2 with new followers and an adjustable pully wheel and was running 16psi boost approx 190bhp. Due to the amount of time being sat around I would check the engine, prior to placing in a car now, but I can say its a genuine engine from my car still with its number on, which I will give receipt for upon request. the dissy cap and leads are attached but the cap is now broken where something fell on it whilst in garage. Right- The gearbox. The box is in excellent condition genuine rs turbo with LSD, having been reconditioned approx 1yr prior to being taken off the road, by a gearbox specialist, it still has the driveshafts inserted and abs attached, its still on its cradle as I wanted it easy to just slot straight back into a car. Turbo- the turbo has never let me down, it was not smoking nor had any unhealthy noises, but being honest there was a very small whistle when on boost, its the standard turbo unit. Jordan99940
Sounds pretty fcuked All because of the Fosters can Alcohol ... The slippery slope to everything bad Buying turbo parts from someone who thinks a Fosters can is a suitable fuel filter housing? Eek. You were right it would seem

Stu
As i've advised many times.. any second-hand engine should be assumed fucked and requiring a rebuild.. don't waste your money buying another worn out engine.. spend the money rebuilding this one! I assumed it'd need new rings and shells but my god, i've never known the little ends wear like that, i could move the piston up and down about 20 thou, the rings basically fell off in my hands, it must of rattled and smoked like billyo! I've never ever seen (nor has Pa) a CVH that bad and he's been dealing with them since they were new!

Of course, i assumed the thing would be rebuilt anyways, I though he was posting that it was even too screwed to be rebuilt. Does my head in when an old dirty lump is just dropped in.......as it was.
