Basically if I get this new job, i'm going to be on the Metro alot, so instead of carrying my phone and an iPod i'd rather just have 1...

Also when I jump in the car I need to remember to bring my iPod, and then take it out again when I get out....

So basically if I get an iPhone i'll be able to use it as a phone, on the metro, and in the car so all I see is a win win.

I WON'T be getting a contract as i've still got 12 months left on my current one

I WON'T be using the internet on it as that is not on my current contract

I will only be using it to phone/text/download some apps/maybe jail break it (boo hoo go cry to someone who cares :pancake:) but mostly for iPod use.

Please help, i've no idea about the differences and all I could find on the net is the 3G has.... 3G and uses more battery than the 2G, but I won't be using the net anyway...

3GS.

It's faster, the new software updates are better, it still holds a good price, it has an S on it etc etc.

But saying that, if your just going to use it for iPod and phone... 2g would do you... But o ce you have it you will wish you just had that little bit more...

But if your going to buy a out of contract iPhone new from the store, the "4" is only a little bit more!

Then you have the HD camcorder and better camera etc.

And one last thing... If buying second hand be careful, if the original buyer reports the phone stollen or does not pay the bills the phone will get black listed and you will only be able to use it as an iPod touch...

Having took the leap from my 2g to my iphone 4 I can seriously say any will do for you Liam.

Only dissadvantage I see is if you want to send pics via mms as the 2g cant do this. I had my 2g for over a year with no problems & felt no restriction over having a 3g/3gs. If your alread on a contrac can you not pay an upgrade fee to a 3gs as it seems the simple option & should fall into your current contract?

Are you thinking of buying the phone seperate & popping your sim card in?

What tarrif are you currently on & with who?

Think carefully about what EscortNreg says, he is very correct, my brother bought 2 iphones off ebay & found them dissabled. You cant test an iphone until your sim is inserted & an account with itunes is verified.

Aaron mentioned something about this but I haven't looked into it yet to see if i'm elidgable

Ok then!

On a 12month contract (simplicity £15 per month) You can get the iphone 3gs for £95.

Its your best option if you ask me. Pop into your local o2 store & im sure they will flip your old contract (which you still have 12 months left anyway) onto this.

Thats what I gather from this tarrif table?

Up it to £20 per month gets you the 3gs free.

EDIT:

Looking again you may need to renew your 24month contract again and pay £30 per month to get that.

The table can be a little confusing.

Buy the best one you can afford, simple

x2

you tit. :nutter: :nutter: 3gs is MUCH faster at everything compated to 3g.

Kitty sells them all the time as him.

ps you have NO internet in your contract. POINTLESS getting it without net or you'll get bent over without lube.

3G's are crap on the new 4.0 Software, so if you get a 3G find a geeky person to flip it back to 3.1.3 for you :)

once i got 4 on, mines been spot on - not a problem atall.

I might give them a ring and see what they can do :thumb:

Whatever one you get, make sure you get a 16gb model. I had an 8gb one and filled it up in about 5 minutes with apps/music/photos/films. Also - 3G's are crap on the new 4.0 Software, so if you get a 3G find a geeky person to flip it back to 3.1.3 for you :)

Yea i've got a mate who has done exactly that, he has down graded his iPhone to the software where you used to be able to make your iPhone into a wireless access point, so now his iPad can be used off his iPhone for free, anywhere.

I won't use the net on it anyway so won't get charged, and if I upgrade my contract i'll get net, win win.

Does your current phone not play mp3s?

Yea but can't plug the phone into windows 7 (Tocco Lite), and also thinking of music for the car aswell.
