been bored at work so been playing with photoshop

i reckon ford should make a few ST estates to give the mk2 a good send off

they are bound to have a rake of estate shells floating about them, they should do something like the gti estates/rs2k 4x4s and make it a limited edition ;)

opinions ;)

Brilliant work ! Really appeals to me, I have an ongoing love affair with estates. Shameful really.

Ford don't want to appease the people though..Wheres my RWD ford? Or even an AWD focus RS?

You're seriously telling me, that if there would be an AWD RS you gonna pick up your behind, stroll into stealership and put down an offer on approx. £38k car ? Tomorrow ?

That's the reason why Focus is FWD - price, consumption, running cost, etc.

Ford got fed up with just loosing money on the RS programme - MkI RS didn't make them a penny, that's why MKII doesn't have fancy Sparco, OZ Racing and Brembo stuff but airfilter same as 1.6 Zetec and intercooler from Mondeo TDCi.

If you really really want one I'm pretty sure that for £50k you can build one.

Also, don't get me wrong, I love RWD but it's been and gone, unfortunately we can't live in the past. sigh.

Let's be happy that they still bother at all.

No I wouldnt buy a 4WD RS today, but later down the line I may, for instance the esccos is on my list of cars i have to own. It may improve ford's standing in the performance car market if they made it, along with a RWD car to compete with the VXR8 adn the likes

How would it cost 38 grand though? I hate is when ford say 4WD is too expensive. Subaru manage to sell the 300BHP STI for 32,995 list price and vauxhall the insignia VXR 325PS 4WD for less than 31 grand?

Ford were the only company who didn't need a bailout by the US govt., unlike GM (Vauxhall).. and they've managed to stay above the water and are knocking out a great range of cars.. to allow this to happen they have to be careful with the product range they produce and they have to be as profitable as possible..

Ford wouldn't be selling too many £40k Foci/Mondeos.. and yes they'd cost that much because of the quantity that'd be sold.. which is why they don't bother.. Ford is about bringing great quality to the people..

DaweV6: You state that Ford standardises parts across vehicle ranges - i'm interested to know why that would be a bad thing? Eg, if an air filter for a Fiesta can adequately filter enough air for 300ps that the Focus RS is designed to produce, then what advantage would there be of designing/testing something else?

I'm certainly no expert (*ass licking*), but I remember seeing dyno tests at FF show '09 where they kept changing bolt on performance parts in front of your eyes and air filter being the first gained 11 bhp just like that. I know it's just a number, I don't remember the curves, graphs, even the company. Therefore no evidence.

Ford always used to standardise parts, that's no bad in itself - OEM+ look and performance is my kettle of fish and I understand why they have to do it, but flagship should be a flagship, shouldn't it ? And in my mind flaghships don't suffer from heat soak, faulty ICS and EGR valves just because they've been taken from lesser models and they're not up to it.

It's not like it bothers me very much - I don't run single ford as they came out of the factory - where I can upgrade something - I do it. But it would be nice if all my mechanics mates couldn't say "of course it's broken, what do you want, it's a Ford !". Just once. Just this once :)
