caled
Right then, time for a bit of an update I suppose. As mentioned in an earlier post, just prior to christmas my arse was clenched like a nun's **** awaiting the insurance renewal. I wasnt disappointed, the premium came in at £1995. Plus 10% direct debit for monthly payments. Ouch. Somehow, miraculously, I stumbled across a specialist classic MG insurer, who also had special 'modern MG' policies, and managed to more than half that. I was pleased. So, paid that, and then when I eventually saw a pay cheque in January I treated the car to a new pair of Avon ZZ3s at ~£110 a corner, plus an oil and filter change whilst they were there. Also got them to do the tracking as it felt as though it had lost a lot of grip, although wasnt expecting them to show me the camber was nearly four degrees off. Bluddy potholes. People hid in smaller ditches whilst lobbing bombs at zee germans. Anyway, reckon that means the last set of ZZ3s lasted me about 16k miles, not marvellous but they handle well enough and the price is about right. Obligatory pictures, taken whilst waiting for my chippy tea over the weekend. http://www.evo-host.co.uk/getimg/28903.jpg http://www.evo-host.co.uk/getimg/28904.jpg Reckon the damn inlet manifold motors are playing up again. Might just sod it and get a new pair, be done with it. They've lasted 54k miles and theyre nigh on a service item anyway. Took the car for a weekend trip to the Lakes two weekends back, fully loaded with 4 people, and the boot swallowed up all our wet weather gear, two double duvets, two sleeping bags, load of food and booze, other essentials and all alongside the 12" sub and 6 channel amp. And still managed to hurtle around the lake district. Monster.

ScORTED
wow insurance hate you! first shot it looks good, second shot its got a flabby arse, perhaps the evo style spoiler would help with that? also how big are those wheels? they look like 14s do on an escort. caled
Yeah, the insurance is pretty insane. All down to the postcode. When I moved to where I am now I still had the escort, and the insurance premium doubled The car itself aint too bad, group 32 I think. Probably helped by the cat 1 alarm as standard. The cars are pretty rare; they were only produced mid 04 to 05 when MGR went under, so a pretty limited run. Couple that to a lot of people not buying MGR as it was going under means that they are fairly thin on the ground. And that doesnt help the insurance either, as the bodykits parts are getting hard to source. Theres quite an active community about them, and the forums are full of people who either race these or ZRs, or were in MGR in the design and production, so plenty of very informative posts on them. I think its about the only car I could stand to buy and not modify to some extent, which would be a big insurance no no. The wheels are 17", believe it or not. I quite like the flabby arse bit, not quite sure why. Horses for courses, I suppose. Means the boot is massive n all. I keep changing my mind about the rear spoiler, they do look good, but then I quite like the understated spoiler on it at the minute. Its surprised a few people round cheshire way And craig, dont worry theres looooads of room around that chippy, two streets to park down, a public car park, another outside the shop next door, the chippy's own car park and this one across the road, which has a good few more spaces off camera. I dont think anyone minded.

caled
That black'un's luverly. I was originally after one almost exactly like that, but when I saw my one I had to get it, pretty much the same price as all the other examples and came with most of the optional extras from factory, like a sunroof. Still don't think that spoilers for me, though. Bit too in your face. Yeah, the handling on them is pretty much top notch, none of those McPherson struts for me lol. And JC, if I were you Id be back to that scrappers ASAP and pulling it apart if it were a mk2, the body kits are like gold dust and go for a small fortune on ebay, especially the alloys and the bumpers.
